Lanoka Harbor in New Jersey is a beautiful little city just off the coast. With all the dog-friendly attractions of Ocean County nearby, your pup is gonna have a blast getting his paws wet. You and your pup are sure you have a ball -- a tennis ball, that is!
A large part of the allure of Lanoka Harbor is the proximity to the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. One particular location that the city is nearby is the Ocean County Dog Park. With its spacious four acres, as well as separate areas for small and large dogs, you and your puppy pal will be free to socialize with humans and dogs alike. Toys, water, and waste bags are provided in this location, so all you’ll need is your dog and yourself.
Thanks to the acres of oceanfront land in Lanoka Harbor, the attractions you’ll come across are numerous. There’s a reason this town is valued by dog lovers, and you’ll be sure to see its value as well when you and your dog are having the time of your lives. Bring a swimsuit, and be sure your pup has practiced their doggie paddle. They’re definitely gonna need it, and you’ll have a blast keeping up!
Lanoka Harbor is the pawfect place to find dog-friendly, waterfront fun!
In nearby Manasquan Inlet, you’ll find a well-kept secret among locals: the Fisherman’s Cove Conservation Area. Fisherman’s Cove is a beautiful beach broken up into two distinct sections. The west side is for humans only, but dogs are more than welcome on the east side. Your precious pup will need to be kept on a leash, so you two won’t be swimming many laps, but it is still a nice and refreshing place to enjoy the ocean air! Bring along some treats, water, waste bags, and maybe a small picnic for you to enjoy. Whether it be for a short stay, or a long day, you and your puppy pal will have a blast.
Seaside Park hosts the vast and dog-friendly Island Beach State Park. The beach is quite spacious according to locals, and often full of friendly fur babies for your pup to play with. There are a few caveats, such as dogs being forbidden from the swimming beach during the summer, as well as the Spizzle Creek Bird Blind Trail all year long. Just as well, these are just small setbacks considering the beauty of the soft and pristine sand your dog will love to prop his paw pads in. As long as Fido is kept on a six-foot leash, the two of you will be free to enjoy a languid walk among the crisp ocean breeze.
If you’re looking for a great place to let your loyal hound off of their leash, then you’d be remiss to overlook Barnegat Light Dog Park. Your canine companion will be free to prance across the park with his new pals while you take care of that latest text string you’ve received. There is a permit required to enter this park, but while it may seem a downside, it only serves to make sure your dog is safe. Your baby will have a blast, and maybe even get a little muddy, so be sure to bring a towel for your canine to cozy up in.
Near Manchester Township, a few paw prints away from Lanoka Harbor, you’ll find another great place to let your pooch roam free. Robert J. Miller Air Dog Park is a must-see in the area. With sandy terrain that will feel great on puppy’s paws, as well as the freedom to be off leash, your pal is sure to have a grrreat time. The park hosts wide open spaces and wooded areas for your pup to explore, as well as a separate fenced area for smaller dogs. Be sure to bring plenty of drinking water and waste bags, and maybe a book to look over while your pup goes dog wild!
If you and your pup are looking for a trail that will wag your tails, make your way to Wall Township, a short distance from Lanoka Harbor. In this pawsitively fantastic location, you’ll find the Edgar Felix Memorial Bikeway. The name is a bit misleading; though it’s intended for cyclists, you and your canine companion are welcome to explore the various trails that make up this vast bikeway. During the summer, it can get a bit toasty, but there are plenty of shady trails to walk. Come prepared with some nice cool water for your canine, and some waste bags, and this is a trail your pup will think is pawesome.
