Who wouldn’t want to see majestic real-life castles? Rails-to-Trails knew that is was a spectacular spot, so they did their best to conserve it. Barnegat Branch Trail is sectioned off into three sections. They have parts that are paved with asphalt and others that are just gravel. You and your dog will love the walk because it preserves the townships in a way that is relaxing and fascinating all at the same time. At the end of the trail, there is a playground, swimming pool, and picnic tables for you and your pup to enjoy.

Central Avenue

Right next to Island Beach Park sits Bum Rogers Crabhouse. The best part about this restaurant is that, when you are walking your dog along the beaches, you can just stop in and grab a bite to eat with your dog. You can sit on the patio under the cover and enjoy the cool ocean breeze as you browse the menu. They will even bring your puppy some water! The menu is classic seafood dishes and steaks. You can even get you an umbrella drink or a brew if you want something to sip on while you relax by the water.

Central Avenue

Island Beach State Park has miles of trails for you to walk with your dog. You can even walk along the breathtaking beaches as long as you have a leash with you. Because it’s not a dog park, you’ll need to bring your own amenities, including water and waste bags. There are some places that you cannot take your puppy, but those areas are clearly marked. If you are looking for a serene and restful place to come and walk, then you have found just the right place. This is the pawfect place to come and watch the sunset in the evening because of the beautiful views.

Wells Mills

Wells Mills County Park is a scenic, wooded park that has many trails that you and your dog can walk all year long. There is a lake that you can walk around and explore. There is no place to swim, but you can fish while you are here. This area is home to lots of local wildlife, and, if you’re quiet, you may even catch a glimpse of the deer family that lives in the park! There are leash requirements for this park, but your pup won’t mind because there is so much to smell, see, and explore. This pawesome park is less than 20 miles from Barnegat.

Long Island Beach

Barnegat Light Dog Park is located right at the end of Long Island Beach next to the State Park. You are required to get a Paw Pass to come and play, but it is definitely worth it. The park is completed fenced in. There is a double gate entrance to make sure that no one accidentally escapes. The ball field is set up just for games of fetch with your dog. The locals absolutely rave about this park because of how well cared for it is. This is only fifteen minutes from Barnegat, so you’ll love coming here to play again and again!
