The borough of New Providence has many amenities for a person living with a canine companion. The small community has one veterinary clinic in the borough which can take care of most of your pup's veterinary needs. Emergency and specialty care are readily available in the larger communities less than ten miles from New Providence.

The borough maintains five parks within its boundaries. These recreational spaces include open green spaces where you and your leashed pup can take an invigorating stroll. Oakwood Park is one of the larger of the borough's parks. It includes a playground, picnic sites, and a nature trail. Lion's Park has large mature trees, open green spaces, and plenty of picnic tables where you and your four-legged pal can enjoy a lunch or snack together. Before your park excursion, grab a sandwich for breakfast or lunch at the Avenue Deli. This dog-friendly restaurant also has two outdoor tables which welcome you and your furry dining companion.

A more vigorous outdoor adventure awaits you and your leashed pup at Union County's Watchung Reservation.  This nature preserve is only three miles south of the borough and has over 2,000 acres of land set aside for recreation and conservation. This hilly and heavily forested preserve features over a dozen hiking trails ranging in difficulty and length, from 0.2 miles to over 10 miles. Your pup will need to be on a leash when exploring these trails.

New Providence, though small, has a wide range of things for a person with a furry family to do.
