Central Accord

Central Accord has the Rainbow Falls Trail to attract plenty of outdoor enthusiasts and dog lovers looking for a pupperific spot for an adventurous hike. Your dog will want his harness instead of his leash if you plan to spend a good bit of time walking the trails here. There are trails for all skill levels; just be mindful of posted signs, and make sure you have plenty of water and clean-up bags with you to help keep the paths of this natural oasis clean for the next group of trail explorers to enjoy. Don't forget some healthy trail mix!

Whitfield

Whitfield is a quiet place in the northeast corner of Accord. You will find the real estate in Whitfield is coveted by commuters who are looking for a wonderful area with easy access to the highways, while still leaving them plenty of room to roam with their dogs. Whitfield is met by the North Peters Kill River, where you can visit with your dog after packing a bag full of blankets and towels, waste bags, and some treats for your dog. You will also want to bring a good book for yourself to enjoy while your dog rolls or splashes around.

Mettacahonts

Mettacahonts is a tranquil neighborhood on the upper west side of Accord. The area is home to many families in the trucking industry, and many of the amenities are designed in a no-frills fashion to make sure all of the families get what they need without having to pay for anything extra. There are no developed parks in the area, but there are several streams and creeks that are the pawfect spot for you to enjoy a simple afternoon getting some fresh air with your pooch. Rochester Creek is one such splashtastic destination for you and your water-loving pup to spend the day.

New Paltz

New Paltz is a pupperific town with parks and seven dog-friendly restaurants where you and your dog can enjoy plenty of fun and food together. You can start the day at the Nyquist Harcourt Wildlife Sanctuary, walking the paths and trails with your leashed pet. The Mudd Puddle is a great brunch spot with dog-friendly tables outside for enjoying French toast, omelets and coffee with your favorite pooch. Huckleberry is another casual eatery with outdoor tables. You can grab a salad, taco, burger and more at this cozy restaurant, and your dog will be thrilled that he won't have to wait at home!

South Kerhonkson

South Kerhonkson is a quiet neighborhood in the town of Kerhonkson, just fifteen minutes south of Accord. The Minnewaska State Park Preserve is the place to be if you are visiting Kerhonkson and want one of the best places for a walk in town. The preserve is complete with walking trails and scenic rivers where you can enjoy some quiet time with your pup before you head back to work for the week. You will need your waste bags to help keep the trails clean. You will also want to put a harness on your dog instead of a collar to make it easier for him to keep up with you.
