The historic town of Red Hook in Dutchess County, NY is a unique place which really gives off that hometown, Main Street America vibe! This town is home to several places you'll want to check out, including the local vet hospital, several dog-friendly restaurants, and a wonderful park to walk in with Fido! Annandale-on-Hudson, a hamlet on the banks of the Hudson River, offers more dog-friendly fun. Another nearby hamlet is Barrytown, and the Tivoli village is set right next to a magnificent nature preserve.

If you want to let the creative juices flow while you walk with Fido, Poets' Walk Park is the pawfect place for you! Follow the lead of the man-made walking trails winding throughout beautiful vistas and forest which are sure to spark your creativity. Just think: Washington Irving and many other literary figures loved strolling on these grounds, so this is a cool spot! There are about 2 miles of trails, some gravel-surfaced, running through woods and meadows, passing a rustic Summer House and the Overlook Pavilion.

Care for a drink or bite? Paw on over to South Broadway, the main arterial street in Red Hook. Yum Yum Noodle Bar, the Enchanted Café, and Flatiron offer a variety of cuisines and dishes, but these eateries all have one thing in common -- they welcome doggie diners with open arms!

This is a perfect place to stroll and hike with Fido! Explore the numerous ravines and ridges, the shoreline, and the furrific Hudson River Greenway Land Trail. Be on the lookout for poison ivy along your walk, or you and your buddy will be scratching all the way home!

Bring some snacks and have a picnic, or explore the vast woodlands searching for birds and other local inhabitants. The trails here are just pawesome for beginners, at just a mile long with a couple of inclines. There's only one rule: pooches should stay on-leash at all times. (Make that two rules -- you'll also need to clean up after your pup!)

    Kingston Point is a diverse place on the western bank of the Hudson River in Kingston, NY. It's located just 20 miles from Red Hook, and it offers a playground for every member of the family! Check out Kingston Point Park, home to Kingston Point Rail Trail and a dog park. The fenced doggy spot is amazing for playing and running off-leash. There are two sections for small and large pups, so your pooch will easily find the right company. If you decide to hike on the trail, leash your pup! Kingston Point Beach is also located here, but it's unclear whether dogs are allowed to play there. We're sure Fido will get paw-lenty of exercise at the dog park, anyway!
