This Wallkill neighborhood is home to C. Hudson Thompson Memorial Park, a puptastic place to take your dog for an on-leash walk. This beautiful park has a variety of sports fields, three playgrounds, a horseshoe pit, and a seven-acre lake. Take your pup for walks around this lake, and enjoy the peaceful water views. If you’re hungry, there are charcoal grills you can use to make burgers or hot dogs for you and your dog. You can then enjoy your meal at one of the park’s scenic picnic pavilions. Your dog will always have a fun time in this park!

If you’re looking for a pawsitively amazing place to hike with your dog, head to Storm King State Park. This park is located 19 miles from Wallkill, and it welcomes dogs on leashes that are six feet or shorter. One of the most popular trails in this park is the three-mile Storm King Trail. This trail takes you to the summit of Storm King Mountain, where you’ll get sweeping views of the Hudson River and the Hudson Valley. If you want to go on a slightly longer hike, check out the 4.4-mile North Point Summit Trail. This loop trail also provides great views of the Hudson River and the Catskill Mountains.

This neighborhood is home to Thomas Bull Memorial Dog Park, a pawesome off-leash area. This 1.5-acre park is 12 miles from Wallkill, and it includes separate sections for large and small dogs. Both areas are filled with trees that keep the park cool, and they have plenty of benches for owners to sit on. If your dog gets thirsty while they’re playing with their new friends, water is available. If you want to go for lunch with your pup after the park, head to Copperfield’s Food and Spirits. This pub welcomes dogs at their outdoor tables, and they serve classic bar fare and Irish favorites, including Shepherd’s pie, fish and chips, and more.

If you’re searching for another fun off-leash area for your furry best friend, head to Peekskill Dog Park. Located 36 miles from Wallkill, this popular park offers separate areas for large and small dogs. Both areas are fully fenced, and they have lots of tennis balls and toys for your dog to play with. The park also offers a seasonal water fountain and doggy bags. Your pup will love playing here! After the park, treat your dog to lunch at McDonald & Peacock Cider House. This casual restaurant serves classic British pub dishes. They welcome dogs at their outdoor tables, and they’ll bring your pup a treat.

When you’re in this Poughkeepsie neighborhood, you won’t want to miss the Walkway over the Hudson. This former railroad bridge is 18 miles from Wallkill, and it welcomes dogs on-leash. The beautiful 1.28-mile bridge goes over the Hudson River, and you’ll get stunning views of the river as well as the cliffs and forest along the water. Bring water and doggy bags with you, and have a great time walking on this beautiful and historic path. If you’re hungry after your walk, head over to the Ice House on the Hudson. Pups are welcome on this casual restaurant’s outdoor patio, and your server will bring your dog a bowl of water. As your dog enjoys their water, you can dine on burgers, salads, seafood dishes, steaks, and more.
