The Hardscrabble Wilderness Area encompasses 235 beautiful acres. The Hardscrabble Wilderness Area Trail is an easy, dog-friendly hike at 3.5 miles long. Practice good pettiquette and be sure to clean up after your pooch here -- after all, you wouldn’t want to spoil the natural beauty. Keep your pup on a leash at all times, and don’t let him harass any of the wildlife that calls this area home.

Cold Spring

Little Stony Point Park is a great place for you and your pup to bond! The best part is it’s located just 17 miles southeast of Cornwall-on-Hudson. The park is maintained by a volunteer organization that relies on members and volunteers to contribute to its upkeep. You’ll find plenty of pawesome things to do at this cute little park, including hiking trails and a dog-friendly beach area where your pup can make a splash! Just be sure to bring a leash if you want to explore the trails, as well as water and waste bags.

Montebello

The northern region of Montebello, New York is almost entirely occupied by Kakiat Park. This 376-acre park has plenty of op-paw-tunities to get up-close and personal with nature, all with your pal by your side! You can explore the walking trails as long as your pup stays on a leash, or head straight for the on-site dog park. This fenced park provides water, bowls, and even toys for your pal to play with! All you need to bring is some doggie waste bags and your sense of adventure!

Nelsonville

Sure, dog-friendly hikes are fun, but historic hikes with a hidden gem at the end are even better! Leash up your pal and head the 18 miles to Nelsonville, where you’ll find the Cornish Estate Trail. This 4.5-mile loop trail isn’t your average hiking trail -- it leads you to the Ruins of the Cornish Estate. Your leashed pup is welcome to explore what’s left of this mansion with you, which was destroyed by fire in 1958. Be sure to read up on the Cornish Estate before visiting to learn more about the Cornish family and how they impacted the city’s history!

Mahwah

The Ramapo Valley County Reservation is a sprawling natural paradise that encompasses a whopping 3,000+ acres! It’s a 45-minute drive from Cornwall-on-Hudson, but your pup will thank you for making the trip! Here, you’ll find a dog-friendly lake, lots of wildlife, and challenging hiking trails which will awaken your inner adventurer. Your pup is welcome to explore off-leash, too! Just ensure he responds well to voice commands and doesn’t harass wildlife.
