Briarcliff Manor
If you are looking for a beautiful walk in the wilderness, this is a great place to take your canine companion. This city is located about 23 miles from West Point, New York and is home to the Hardscrabble Wilderness Area Trail. This trail is a great place to spend a day with your pooch. It is about a 3.5 mile hike, and it should be fairly easy for you and Fido to complete. You will need to grab your dog’s leash, as one is required, but your pooch will have fun sniffing the different types of terrain. There is a pond and a few streams that run through the dirt trail, and all of the trees provide a lot of shade. There are no waste cans, so you will need to bring waste disposal bags for your pup.

If you and your pooch want to get some exercise, visit this city located about a half an hour from West Point, New York. This city is home to the Cornish Estate Trail. This trail is about 4.5 miles long and is moderately easy to hike with your pooch. It has a rocky path to hike on, with plenty of shade from the trees. You will need to bring doggy bags for clean-up, and remember to bring some water for you and your canine pal to drink. Grab your hiking shoes and a leash for a fun-filled day on the trail.

This dog-friendly city is located about 28 miles across the state border from West Point, New York. A great place to bond with your four-legged friend is at the Ramapo Valley County Reservation. There are a lot of trees for shade, and your pooch is free to roam around off his leash. There is a lake for your pooch to splash around in, and the trails really make you feel like you’re miles from the city. You will need to grab some doggy bags for clean-up, and bring some water for you and your pooch. The hike on the trail isn’t for beginners, and you will want to keep an eye out for wildlife.

It is located about half an hour outside of West Point, New York and is home to the Little Stony Point Park. This park is open every day from dusk to dawn, and if your pooch is on a leash, you can bring them on the trails. The trails are a bit rocky, but your pup will have fun sniffing around. There is a little beach area that has access to the river, allowing your pooch to take a swim. There are plenty of trees for shade, but you will want to bring some water in case either of you get thirsty. This park also hosts a variety of events throughout the year that both you and your pooch can enjoy.

Suffern
If you are looking for a place for your pooch to romp around and play off his leash, this city is home to the Suffern Kakiat Dog Park. It is a completely fenced in dog park that is covered in wood chips and grass, located about 26 miles from West Point, New York. The parking is close, and there are plenty of benches and trash cans available. There are a few trees for shade, but your pooch will love the toys and water bowls that the park provides. Grab a ball, and bring your pup up for a paw-tastic time!
