Corning is a furiendly and vibrant city located right on the Chemung River in Steuben County, New York. This town is bustling with life, with Market Street a favorite for tourists due to its historical presence. Yet, this is a city that cares about its furry friends too! There are four veterinary clinics and animal hospitals in this puptown to make sure your pup stays in good health.
When you are in Corning, you have got to head to the Dog Park at Happy Tails! This is a pawsome fenced grass space where your four-legged friend can bound around and have fun. With some trees, there is plenty shade on hot days and since other pooches love to visit, your pup is sure to make some new furry friends in no time. There is water available, so all you have to bring is your pup’s favorite toys! You do have to be a member to enjoy the Dog Park at Happy Tails, but there is a daily rate and monthly rate available for visitors.
Of course, there are also some puptastic neighborhood parks in Corning where you can take your dog for a day out. This includes Canfield Park, where you will find open green grass for playing and training practice. When you get hungry and need a refreshment, head to Atlas Brick Oven Pizzeria. This offers casual dining and a host of pizza, subs and pasta to satisfy your appetite. Your pooch is welcome to join you at one of the outdoor tables!
For some delicious food in Southside Hill, head to Little Boomers Burrito Bar. Here you can add whatever meat and toppings you like, such as cheese, guacamole, pork or beef. Plus, there are two dog friendly outdoor tables! A pawsome place for strolling with your pooch has got to be McKinney Park. Here you can enjoy the wide open grass area when there is not a soccer match on, where your pup will love to run and expend some energy. Another puptastic gem in Corning is the Riverfront Centennial Park. This is a beautiful park where you can enjoy the fresh air with your pooch while admiring the view of the Chemung River.
A local park you have got to visit when you are in Corning is the William Street Park. This is a beautiful spot for a picnic with your pooch, and is located beside the Chemung River. There are some sniff-tastic trails to explore, as well as plenty of open green grass for your furry friend to roll and roam. For a bite to eat, drop into Pudgie’s Pizza for a slice and sit at one of the dog friendly outdoor tables. If you need a place to stay when you are in Corning, you can check in to Staybridge Suites. Here you can enjoy a comfortable stay with two pups weighing up to 80 Ibs for an additional fee. Be sure to arrange your room in advance to avoid disappointment!
For a day out at the park when the weather is nice, be sure to bring your pooch to Houghton Park! This is an open green spot where your pup can enjoy rolling on the grass, as well as playing fetch with their favorite ball or Frisbee. There is a playground and swings for the kids to enjoy, as well as covered picnic tables and a grill for relaxing and enjoying a treat. All you have to do is pack some toys, treats and water for your furry friend and you are ready to enjoy Houghton Park in the sunshine!
Next door to Corning, you will find the furiendly village of Painted Post, home to the Erwin Hollow State Forest. This 531 acre forest is a pawsome place to hike and explore the sniff-tastic trails throughout the grasslands, wetlands and forested areas. There is plenty of oppawtunity to spot the wildlife that live here, including wild turkey, white-tailed deer and beavers, so be sure to keep your pup on leash. Nearby, is the lovely Kinsella Park, where you can enjoy a leisurely stroll with your furry friend in the open space here.
All pups have to get their exercise; so, what better place to go than the Painted Post Trail! Just as the name suggests, this pawsome trail is located in the village of Painted Post, only three miles northwest of Corning. The Painted Point Trail is around 1.1 miles long and passes through Craig Park where you can enjoy recreational activities, picnic tables and grills. Your pooch will also love to investigate the new scents and sites, as well as roll on the green grass! Be sure to bring some water and treats for your four-legged friend to keep up their energy!
