Following segments of an abandoned railroad and canal towpath, this crushed stone trail will take you and your pooch through charming villages, wildlife habitats, and serene forests. Markers help visitors stay on the designated route, while benches along the path provide spots to pawse, rest, and admire the scenery. Currently, 6 miles of the Catharine Valley Trail are available for use. Once completed, it will stretch 12 miles from Watkins Glen to Horseheads. Canine hikers are welcome as long as they remain on a 6-foot leash.
