East Watkins Glen
Take your best friend for a relaxing leashed stroll along Seneca Lake at Lakeside Park! In addition to pawsome views of the water, this park features a playground, skate park, horseshoe pit, and several picnic tables. And if your pooch loves playing in the water, there's even a beach that's just for canines! Just a stone's throw from Lakeside Park is the W.W. Clute Memorial Park and Campground, where you can go on a camping adventure with the entire family, including Fido. This 35-acre property, which contains both full hook-up and tent sites, welcomes pups that are leashed, cleaned up after, and have a proof of rabies vaccination.

Southwest Watkins Glen
No trip to Watkins Glen is complete without a visit to the Watkins Glen State Park! The most famous state park in the Finger Lakes region, the Watkins Glen State Park is known for its gorgeous scenery, which includes a puptacular gorge, 200-foot cliffs, and 19 waterfalls. Amenities such as an Olympic-sized pool, tent and trailer campsites, picnic areas, recreation programs, and a gift shop are also available. Stick to the Indian and South Rim Trails when exploring the park with Fido, as dogs are not allowed on the Gorge Trail. There are no restrooms or water along the trails, so prepare accordingly! Four-legged visitors must stay on-leash and bring a rabies vaccination certificate.

South Watkins Glen
Hit the Catharine Valley Trail and experience the historic beauty of the glacial valley just south of Seneca Lake. Following segments of an abandoned railroad and canal towpath, this crushed stone trail will take you and your pooch through charming villages, wildlife habitats, and serene forests. Markers help visitors stay on the designated route, while benches along the path provide spots to pawse, rest, and admire the scenery. Currently, 6 miles of the Catharine Valley Trail are available for use. Once completed, it will stretch 12 miles from Watkins Glen to Horseheads. Canine hikers are welcome as long as they remain on a 6-foot leash.

Northwest Watkins Glen
Wine lovers, rejoice—you're in wine country! You'll find a number of award-winning wineries on the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, and many of them are dog-friendly! Here in Watkins Glen, you can swing by Lakewood Vineyards and Castel Grisch Winery with Fido in tow, and enjoy great wine and woofderful views of Seneca Lake with your furry pal at your feet. Fido might even make new friends at Lakewood Vineyards, for there are friendly, resident dogs that greet visitors and roam the area. Both Lakewood Vineyards and Castel Grisch Winery offer a variety of wines to appeal to different tastes, made using the freshest and best-quality grapes.

West Watkins Glen
Spanning 9,085 acres, the Sugar Hill State Forest is a dream destination for adventurous and outdoorsy puppers. This expansive state forest houses several trails, including a portion of the Finger Lakes Trail and the multi-use Six Nations Trail System. You and Fido will likely see wildlife during your hike, as the area is home to white-tailed deer, fisher, mink, and many other animals. Also located on-site is the Sugar Hill Fire Tower, one of the last fire towers in the state. Visitors may climb to the top of the stairs, where an amazing view awaits. After exploring the trails and fire tower, stop by the picnic area to rest and refuel before heading home.
