Once an important rail hub and river port, Martins Ferry remains a quaint town on the banks of the Ohio River. Located less than four miles from Wheeling, West Virginia, the town is a wonderful destination to enjoy outdoor activities with Fido. Keeping your pup happy and healthy is also easy in Martins Ferry, where you can choose from three veterinary clinics offering routine appointments and emergency medical care.

When your pooch needs some exercise, head over to the Providence Canyon Trail. You can access the hiking trail at the intersection of Mt Pleasant Pike and Colerain-Martins Ferry Crossing. Follow the path along the creek and enjoy the views with your pup. Fido will love sniffing the plants along the way and exploring the wildlife.

Another option when you are looking for a place to walk with your pooch is Fodor Memorial Park. There are open ball fields where you and your pup can play when games are not in session. The grassy area is perfect when Fido wants to roll around and cool off, and you can sit on one of the benches while your pup plays and enjoys the fresh air. After some time at the park, stop by Dairy Queen on the way home for a pup cup.

Whether you live in Martins Ferry, or you just enjoy visiting the beauty of the Ohio River, you and your pup can find a variety of outdoor activities nearby. While in town, plan to travel over the Wheeling Suspension Bridge, hang out at the parks, or hike one of the trails along the river.
