The Sutherlin Dog Park is ruffly 37 miles from Cottage Grove, but it has everything you and your pup need to have a pawesome time. There are separate areas for smaller dogs and bigger dogs. Water is available for your pooch. Doggie waste bags also are provided, so all you need to bring with you is your furry friend and plenty of energy to play! If you want to relax, you can take a seat at one of the many picnic benches scattered throughout the park. Located about 18 miles north of Cottage Grove, Mount Pisgah Trail will satisfy both your and your pup’s need for adventure. This easy-to-moderate trail spans about 7.8 miles, which takes about two-and-a-half hours to walk. March through November is the best time to go. While on the trail, you can experience vast grasslands and wildflowers of the Willamette Valley. Just remember to keep your dog on a leash while exploring the main trails and under firm voice control on the other trails. Don’t forget to clean up after him, too. The park strictly prohibits you from letting your pooch harass wildlife.

The Row River Trail in Cottage Grove (BLM) is a part of 1,600 rail-trails maintained by the supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit that works to repurpose old railways into walking and biking trails. Located about 6 miles from downtown Cottage Grove, the asphalt trail runs 16 miles along the beautiful Dorena Lake, where you and your pooch are likely to see songbirds, black-tailed deer, waterfowl and other wildlife. You’ll also pass historic sawmills and covered bridges. Picnicking is also offered at several parks along the trail, in case you and your pup get hungry. Just remember to keep your pooch on a leash.
