continues to be so steady and thoughtful with Bowie. It was a cool night and she still made sure he got a good, calm walk in. What really meant a lot to me was that she noticed he was limping a little more than usual and pointed it out. That kind of attentiveness matters so much right now. Veneta has a variety of dog-friendly camping locations such as the beautiful Fern Ridge Shores RV Park right on the lake in this neighborhood. They welcome your well-behaved leashed pup on the trails and around the lake. Nearby, Zumwalt Park is a 74-acre country park with accessible facilities and a variety of walking trails. Stop by the Oak Island Park, a half-acre park with a small picnic area and a wooded area with a footbridge to add to the sniff-tastic walk in the park. After your walk, stop by pet friendly Y-Cook Food Stop, a drive through spot with a couple picnic tables where you can sit and eat with your pooch.

Elmira

Just a mile away from Veneta in the town of Elmira, you'll find Richardson Park Campground on the northwest shore of Fern Ridge Lake. The dog-friendly camping and RV park has a shoreline path for a leashed walk with your pooch. The many shade trees throughout the campground create a sniff-tastic leashed walk experience for Fido. Regardless of the type of camping you prefer, the 88 large and spacious campsites have paved pads and water and electric hookups. There is a play structure, as well as volleyball, horseshoe pits, amphitheater and reserved picnic shelters. A boat ramp with boat trailer parking is available.

Danebo

Just 23 miles away in Eugene, Candlelight City Park is one of this town's larger neighborhood parks. This beautiful and sprawling 12-acre park includes a playground, picnic tables, a basketball court, a restored waterway, and a 3.5-acre dog park. There's something for the whole family at Candlelight. The dog park is totally fenced, with a large area for small and timid dogs and another for large dogs. Waste disposal bags are available here, but there are no restrooms on site for humans. Street parking is available. Your pooch will love a leashed walk through the sniff-tastic trees of the city park.

Lorane/ Linslaw

Your pup will be keen for a walk in the shady Linslaw County Park, just 11 miles from Veneta in Walton. Bring along your picnic lunch and enjoy the open air and picnic tables. Hardy folks and their pooch can scramble down the riverbank to soak in the sun, as well as the cool water. The Whittaker Creek Recreation Site offers a wealth of activities that include dog-tastic hikes through old growth forest, wildlife viewing, salmon watching, picnicking and camping. The beautiful Old Growth Ridge Trail provides exceptional wildlife, geologic and old growth trees to watch as you hike. Whittaker Creek is an inviting summer swim spot and a picnic site for a great day outdoors. Potable water is available from hand pumps in the campground.

Alvedore

Orchard Point Park and the Orchard Point Recreational Area are on the eastern side of Fern Ridge Lake in this Eugene neighborhood , and offer lots of opportunities for fishing. You can also explore the shallow lagoons and bottomland creeks with your kayak or canoe. The park is large, open, and flat for a great round of fetch or Frisbee, as well as leashed walks. The shaded park is a perfect place for getting close to the water on a hot day where the trees add some lovely shade, and the shallow paved swim area is very clean. This park is a perfect place for a barbecue and picnic with dog-loving friends.
