South Mapleton
Grab Fido and head out to the Kentucky Falls Trail and go on an adventure together. The 3.3-mile trail will take you through the Siuslaw National Forest where you hike an 892-foot elevation gain on a trail that has an out and back route type. While hiking you will pass the Smith River where you can cool off and you will see three amazing waterfalls as you hike. If you continue hiking, this trail will connect to the North Fork Falls Trail where the two of you can continue exploring. Make sure your dog stays on a leash when you are out hiking.36

South Walton
The Whittaker Creek Recreation Site is a dogtastic area to bring your furry pal to. The recreational area includes a swimming hole, fishing, camping, restrooms, and hiking. While you hike through the area, you will be covered in shade by tons of trees, just make sure to keep your dog on a leash while you are there. The Siuslaw River runs through this area where you and your dog can cool down, and there is a bridge you can cross to get to the other side of the river. Located in Walton and only ten miles out from Mapleton, this is a great new place to check out with Fido.24

North Mapleton
If you and your pup are looking for a smaller trail to hike along, check out the Mapleton Hill Pioneer Trail. The trail is only 0.6-miles long with a 157-foot elevation gain on an out and back route. While hiking this great trail you will be taken through the Siuslaw National Forest which is filled with Douglas firs and western hemlock to keep you cool and shaded while you hike. While hiking you will be covered by trees for shade and tons of grass around you but make sure to bring water along since none is available on the trail. Keep Fido on a leash too when you both are out exploring.12

South Linslaw
The Linslaw County Park is a beautiful little park to go and hang out at with your pup. The park has six picnic tables, a boat ramp, fishing access, and restrooms. The Siuslaw River runs through this park, so you and Fido are more than welcome to take a dip while you are visiting. Get a good hike in on the paved walking trail that runs throughout the park, but make sure you keep your dog on a leash. Located in Linslaw, and less than ten miles from Mapleton, your pup will enjoy this little adventure with you.
