The small, rural community of Lowrys is located about 30 miles southwest of Charlotte, NC. This area abounds with forested and open areas that offer pawtastic outdoor adventures for you and your four-footed friend. There are several neighborhoods with parks and other dog-friendly opportunities within about a half-hour drive.
One puptastic place to explore nature is the James Ross Wildlife Management Area, just sixteen miles north of Lowrys. This 305-acre facility has two hiking trails where you and your pooch can get some exercise. Dogs are permitted on the pathways provided they’re on a leash.
Take Fido to River Park in Rock Hill, about 22 miles northeast of Lowrys to hike along the scenic Catawba River. Here, you can hook up to the Piedmont Medical Center Trail. Walk or jog this 2.5-mile paved path that passes through the Riverwalk neighborhood. Make sure you keep your pup on a leash and clean up after him.
On both adventures, you'll need to bring your own supplies, like drinking water, doggie waste bags, toys, treats, and a leash. While Lowrys doesn't have any Fido-friendly amenities or activities, you'll find more than enough things to do just a short drive away in the surrounding areas.
