Sedro-Wooley
Sedro-Wooley, Washington is the place to be if you are looking to have a great day with your pooch. It is located about 23 miles from Lake Cavanaugh, Washington. You will not want to miss the Cascade Trail, a former rail line that is now part of Rails-To-Trails. This 22.5 mile trail is made of crushed stone and gravel. Put on your walking shoes and grab your pup’s leash to see how far you guys can get on the trail. You will want to bring water and waste bags with you, as none are provided. There are plenty of trees that provide shade for you and your pooch.

Mt. Vernon
You will want to bring your pup to this newly built Dog Park. It is called Bakerview Dog Park and is located about 20 miles from Lake Cavanaugh, Washington. This is an off the leash Dog Park so your pooch will have the freedom to explore all of the terrain, which is mostly bark and gravel. It is completely fenced in and is a very large area. There are plenty of picnic tables and water is available for your pooch in the warmer months. Bring a ball and have a great day with your pup.

Bellingham
If you and your pooch are looking for a place to cool off, you will want to check out Bloedel Donovan Beach, which is about 47 miles from Lake Cavanaugh, Washington. Keep in mind that this spot is not fenced in, and there are limited hours. Your pup can feel free to be off of his leash and take a swim from 6am to 10am; after that, he’ll need to be on his leash at all times. You will need to bring waste bags and water. There is not much shade, and the beach area is sandy. Your canine pal will not want to leave this swimming spot.

Marysville
If you and your pooch are looking to get in some exercise, you won’t want to miss visiting the Strawberry Fields Dog Park at the athletic complex, located about 31 miles from Lake Cavanaugh, Washington. Your pup will have plenty of room to run around at this large, off-leash park. The terrain is grassy, but some areas also have wood chips. There are 2 separate areas: one for smaller dogs and one for larger dogs. There is also a large dog run, and it is completely fenced-in. There is water for canine friends to drink, and the park provides waste-disposal bags for clean-up. Your pooch will also have a blast playing on the agility equipment!

Everett
If you and your pup are looking for a nice beach to make a splash in, check out the Howarth Park. It is about 37 miles from Lake Cavanaugh, Washington and sits on 28 acres. The actual beach area is off-leash, and you will want to check the tide. If it is low tide, there will be a lot of sandy beach for your pooch to run on; however, if it is high tide, there will not be much beach to play on. There is parking up above, so you can enjoy a little hike with your pup before jumping in the water to cool off. This is a fun day in the sun, but remember to bring water and that there is not much shade. The rest of the park includes trails to walk on while your pup is on his leash, and there are also picnic areas available.
