Introduction

So you want to give your dog an Ace Ventura inspired dog name? Allllllllllrighty then. Despite the critical reception to the films, the pair of Ace Ventura movies (along with The Mask) still represent the true launch of Jim Carrey’s career, one that has turned out to be long and full of great comedic moments, many of which were also delivered by Ace himself. While the popularity of the movies rarely seem to reach into the next generation of youth, let alone into older generations, they still stand as cult classics to many 80s and 90s babies, and ones with plenty of great quotes, characters, and moments to which you can associate your furry friend with.

Ace Ventura Inspired Dog Name Considerations

When it comes to giving your dog an Ace Ventura inspired name, there is a wide variety of things to consider. First, think about which film you like better, if you even have a preference, as that should help narrow down some possibilities. After that, consider your dog’s personality and quirks, as they are usually the easiest elements to play off of.

For instance, if your dog is a bit wild and tends to bounce off the walls, Ace or Ventura might be a good place to start. On the other hand, if they have a nearly zen-like calmness about them, maybe Ashram or Monk would be more appropriate. If they tend to climb everything they come in contact with, then Spike would be a great choice. For a similar reason, if they tend to issue high-pitched barks and squeals, Snowflake would be great — especially if they’re also white and delicate.

Of course, you can always take your liberties creatively as well and mix some of their attributes together as in the example above or even use anecdotes from the past. For example, if you tend to spoil them and treat them like a deity, if they’re white, and/or fly around the room, then Shikaka would likely be perfect. If they tend to chew on shoes and laces and/or remove the latter, then Finkle, Marino, and Einhorn would be ideal.

Whatever you choose, sit down with your dog and re-watch the movie. See if anything in particular stands out about them or parts, lines, or characters in the film you find yourself particularly attached to. Chances are that’s all it will take to make your naming experience “gravy” as Ace would say.
