Barbados Dog Names

So, when Blake,  the 1-year-old mixed-breed dog was carried into a Barbados clinic with an 8-inch blade stuck in his neck, it was both shocking and disappointing. His attacker had tried to outright kill him, but Blake was determined.

Vic Garnes, who adopted Blake from the Barbados RSPCA believes that his winning attitude and determination was his secret weapon. He technically should have died, all the signs pointed to certain death from the ordeal, but he wasn't giving up.

And that's saying a lot considering what he went through. Blake was repeatedly slashed and stabbed by a man suffering a psychotic break. The dog's screams alerted the neighbors, who then called the police. The only thing stopping the attacker from delivering a fatal blow before the police could arrive was the knife itself. The blade broke off in the dog's neck, leaving nothing but the handle in the attacker's hand.

But again, Blake was here to stay. Despite his altercation, despite suffering something so horrific, he still wanted to make friends with the staff at the Barbados RSPCA. And the staff certainly fell for him. After they saved his life, he took a while to recover, but in that time, he would try to lift his sore head and put it in people's laps. He'd smile at them, and attempt to wag his tail. And in response, neighbors and staff alike showered him with gifts and love.

About a month went by before he met Vic Garnes. She was mourning the loss of her Rottweiler, Jordan, who had died suddenly weeks earlier. She'd gone to the RSPCA for medication for some kittens she was fostering, and on a whim, decided to take a look at the dogs in need. Although she didn't want to adopt, she figured taking a dog out for a walk would be appreciated.

That's when Blake and Vic became a duo, inseparable and happy together. He now lives with her, two other dogs, two cats, and one mongoose. They also get visited by some foster animals from time to time. Although the scars are still there under his fur, Blake is happy to be alive, loved, admired by the locals, and out of harm's way.
