Introduction

Bioshock, the 2007 first-person shooter was developed by 2K Boston and Australia, with the original concept being designed by Ken Levine, the creative lead behind the famous System Shock 2. This is its spiritual successor. Only Bioshock was a little different. It incorporates ideas of 20th century dystopian and utopian thinkers, mainly Ayn Rand, George Orwell, and Aldous Huxley. And does a fantastic job of showcasing the terrible way a former utopia can fall, due to the greed of humanity. It's certainly a dark game, but also, an intellectual one, full of deep meaning and substance that you find all to little in a video game. No wonder you want to name your dog after Bioshock!

BioShock Dog Name Considerations

Whenever you're naming a dog, it's important to pick a name that reflects the dog. It's not enough to just think of, in this case, Bioshock and choose a name like Andrew. You technically could, sure, but would it make sense? It depends on your dog. Some dogs will wear the name well, others won't. Some things to keep in mind are the dog's breed, age, personality, appearance, and toy preferences. Having that information on hand helps because you know what names make sense almost immediately. And that means you can discard any name options that don't have anything to do with your dog.

It may help to think about it this way: if you have to force a name, then it probably doesn't work. The pairing should work organically, and you should immediately feel good about the name selection. But don't be disheartened. Bioshock does a great job of incorporating a lot of different characters, from the most evil, to the most innocent. And because a lot of the game is based on actual thinkers of the 20th century, we'll be adding them to this guide as well. That should provide an additional angle that most other video game dog name guides just don't have.
