Introduction
Curb Your Enthusiasm Dog Names in Pop Culture
Oscar was the German Shepherd dog on Curb Your Enthusiasm owned by Larry’s friends Jeff and Susie Green. The lovely canine is a retired police dog that was used to sniff for corpses. Susie adopts the dog for companionship when she briefly separates from Jeff. When Susie finally allows Jeff to return home he discovers that he is allergic to Oscar. At Larry’s insistence, Jeff gives Susie an ultimatum. She must decide between him or her beloved Oscar. Ultimately, to Jeff’s dismay she picks Oscar.
In another episode, Larry visits a newly opened restaurant with friends. He is telling his friends about Susie’s corpse-sniffing dog. Unexpectedly, Susie drops by the restaurant and Oscar starts to signal that there is something buried beneath the restaurant’s floor. The patrons of the restaurant became distraught at the thought that a body might be buried beneath the restaurant’s floor. The police are called and the floor must be excavated. No body is discovered but the restaurants owners feel like their business has been destroyed because of Larry’s careless words.
Probably one of the most moving episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm is when Oscar is dying. Susie is distraught and says that before they can put Oscar down he must have one last meal. The dog loves Pinkberry coconut frozen yogurt. Susie makes Larry and Jeff drive to Pinkberry for the dog’s final treat. After purchasing the yogurt, Larry and Jeff decide to take one taste of the cold yogurt. However, one taste leads to them eating the entire tub. While eating the Pinkberry yogurt, a man named Vance who has taken a vow of silence sees Larry and Jeff consuming the yogurt.
When Larry and Jeff reach Susie and Oscar they lie and say that Pinkberry was closed. Poor Oscar has no last yogurt meal. As the show progresses, Susie has a funeral for Oscar. At the funeral, Vance learns that Oscar was denied his last meal of yogurt. Vance figures out that when he saw Larry and Jeff eating Pinkberry yogurt they were actually consuming Oscar’s last treat. He becomes very upset and tries to tell Susie but fails because of his vow of silence.
Finally, as the show comes to a conclusion, Vance has a run in with Larry over a nasty note that Larry leaves on Vance’s car when he parks over the parking line. He get so angry that he tells Susie the truth about how Larry and Jeff ate Oscars Pinkberry. Susie is furious over the entire thing.
Curb Your Enthusiasm Dog Name Considerations
Curb Your Enthusiasm was created by Larry David who stars in the show as himself. The plot follows Larry’s life in a semi-autobiographical state. Throughout the show, Larry often stumbles and struggles with the social graces that others take for granted. He usually expresses himself in a bold way and rarely holds back his opinion. His outspoken attitude typically gets him in trouble as he navigates relationships with his friends and fellow show business associates.
Larry David was the co-creator and co-writer of the classic Seinfeld series. With Curb Your Enthusiasm, the viewer gets to experience Larry’s mind and many viewpoints that also helped shape Seinfeld. The show’s unique handle is reported to have been Larry’s creation. He opted to title the show 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' because he generally believes people display too much excitement for mundane things. The show’s title encourages watchers to not expect too much from the show so they won’t be disappointed. In every way, the show is a direct reflection of Larry’s dry and often twisted form of humor. Those very things are what ultimately draw a fan to the show.
Curb Your Enthusiasm has won acclaim and recognition for its unique storyline and the professional acting abilities of the many actors that work together to create the unique story. To date, it has won 38 Primetime Emmy Awards. Director Robert B. Wide was honored with the Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series. In 2002, the show won the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy. The show continues to run on HBO and has been renewed for a new season. Filming is set to begin in 2018.
