Dog Names Ending in 'ra' in Pop Culture
Sombra is not just a hero; she is so good at her job, the Colombian Cartel has put a bounty on her head. Yes, the German Shepherd drug dog has made so many good drug busts that the Urabeños Colombian drug cartel has offered $70,000, or 200 million pesos, for anyone who will get rid of her. In fact, in the past several years working for the Colombian police, Sombra has led to the capture of 245 suspects and the seizure of almost 10 tons of cocaine.
Along with her handler, Jose Rojas, this amazing pooch has been a major thorn in the side of Otoniel, who is the head of the Urabeños. This cartel is the most powerful criminal organization in Colombia, and the Colombian police department is taking this threat seriously. In fact, they have moved Sombra to help ensure her safety. She is stationed at the Bogota Airport, which is much safer because of how much protection they have there.
Prior to the move, Sombra had been working in the middle of the gang’s territory, working with her handler and other Colombian narcotics officers at a busy port on the Caribbean coastline of Colombia. When coming and going from the Bogota El Dorado International Airport, she is now transported in a van with two armed guards and tinted windows.
Six-year-old Sombra, which means shadow in Spanish, has won two Medals of Courage for valor and her detective work is essential to Colombia as well as other countries where the drugs are being transported to. According to the experts, the land where drug traffickers grow Coca, which is used to make cocaine, has increased 11% since 2017. The President of Colombia, Ivan Duque, is promising a much more tough approach to help eradicate the drugs such as the use of drones and aerial spraying. However, studies have shown that the detective work that Sombra does is much more important and effective.
Recently, Sombra uncovered five tons of cocaine from the Gulf Clan that was on its way to Europe hidden in banana crates. Her sense of smell is much better than any other drug detection dogs according to her handler. She was even able to detect 77 kg of cocaine from inside some industrial machinery. This is a risky job and the Colombian police estimate that they have lost over 1,800 narcotics officers in the past 20 years. The Cartel rapidly gets rid of any threats to their drug smuggling operations, and now Sombra is in danger. However, the Colombian police are keeping her safe while she continues to wreck the Cartel’s plans.
Dog Name Ending in 'ra' Considerations
After you choose your new canine kid, you will need to get some other things. For example, your pupster should have a cozy dog bed, some fun toys, crunchy bones, high-quality kibble and treats, a leash and collar, a veterinarian, and an excellent name that fits them perfectly. And although some new pet owners have a name picked out before they even get the dog, like with human babies, it is much better to get to know your poochie first. That way you will be able to figure out their personality and see if they have any cool habits or weird quirks.
For instance, if you have a pooch that is always on the move, you could name them Sayonara or Dora (the explorer). Opera is a fun name for a dog that likes to sing, Etcetera is ideal for a pup that is always busy, and Tiara would be pawesome for a dog that thinks she is a princess. For a fun name, try Camera for a pupster that likes to have their picture taken, Cobra for a fast furbaby, and Algebra for a smart pup. If you want to name your poochie for their appearance, try Angora for a soft doggy, Zebra for a striped doggo, and Plethora for a big dog. Here are 60 of our favorites names ending in "ra".
