Introduction
Dog Names Ending in 'w' in Pop Culture
Cue Indiana Thunderbolt. She too was a Miniature Dachshund. And then Harlow got more than she bargained for: she also got Reese Lightning, another Miniature Dachshund, this time a puppy. Upon seeing the story of friendship, and their eye-catching images on social media, the dogs began to pick up a following. Currently with almost 2 million followers, the Instagram account alone is highly active, full of daily posts and adventures.
So unsurprisingly, they were offered a book deal. "Harlow & Sage (and Indiana): A True Story About Best Friends" was the first book, which explained Harlow's initial friendship with Sage. "Harlow & Indiana (and Reese): A True Story About Best Friends... and Siblings Too!" came second, and further explains how Harlow's life changed once Sage was gone. Both books are available on their own website, and Penguin Books.
They also sell t-shirts for the whole family, even infants. T-shirts depicting the dogs in cartoon form, with their faces front and center. And finally, they sell a Reese Lightning Stuffed Animal plush. In the description, they call her "one of the happiest, most easy going pups on the planet."
Due to their great success and easy-going nature, the dogs and their human friends have decided to foster new puppies until they get a new home. Currently, they are fostering an adorable pup named Patch, due to one black and tan spot around his eye. He spends his time in the bath tub, lying comfortably on the floor, or sleeping on the bed with Indiana and Harlow.
The family had previously fostered River and Sky, whom they still keep in touch with. They often have doggy play dates with Harlow, Indiana and Reese, and the human friends get to mingle. Because of her age, Harlow is now the oldest of the bunch. But we have a feeling that when her time comes, she'll be happy to have known so much love, friendship, and acceptance. Without Sage, she wouldn't have had five solid years with a best friend. And wouldn't have appreciated the rest of the crew as much as she does now.
Dog Name Ending in 'w' Considerations
Think of it this way: a name should be reflective of the dog wielding it. It should make sense, it should flow easily. When a stranger asks the name, they should nod with understanding. The only times your dog's name doesn't really have to "go" with the dog as well is when you're being ironic. Essentially, you'd just be naming the dog in an opposite manner: Tiny for a big dog, Monster for a little dog, Joker for a conservative, shy dog. But this tactic isn't for everyone. Unless you're the comical type, and would like to poke fun at your dog, it may not be a route for you.
