Dog Names Meaning Albino

Although this dog does not have albinism, he does have a white dog name, and he is a white dog, so he is a furfect example of a dog with a name that means albino. Snowy is a white Wire Fox Terrier from the comics The Adventures of Tintin and Snowy. This cartoon originally started as a French comic book written by Belgian cartoonist, Georges Prosper Remi, or Hergé, and debuted in January 1929. Snowy’s original name was Milou, which was an abbreviation of Marie-Louise, who was the first girlfriend of Hergé. It was changed to Snowy when the comics were translated to the English language because of the dog’s white color. 

Tintin was a Belgian reporter, and adventure seeker who was constantly getting into bad situations and Snowy was his dog and best friend. Snowy accompanies Tintin on all kinds of journeys all over the world, and he is more of a costar than a sidekick because he is able to understand human language and speaks to the reader through speech bubbles. He is sometimes funny, sometimes afraid, but often pleading for Tintin to be careful. He is also good at being a dog, sniffing, tracking, chasing, and biting the bad guys when he can. 

Snowy’s character has changed some over the years and has gone from being brave and fearless to scared, and always tries to protect Tintin from the bad guys, freeing him from captivity many times. Snowy’s main fear is spiders, and his favorite things are bones. He will often have a hard time deciding between picking up a bone or carrying an important note from or to Tintin. He also likes whiskey. Although dogs are never supposed to drink alcohol, Snowy sometimes drinks whiskey and has even gotten drunk in some of these episodes. Also, he has been mischievous at times, chasing cats and other critters that he sees as fun to chase.

This white furred pooch has been attacked by many different bad guys over the years and even by other critters such as cows, eels, gorillas, crocodiles, crabs, condors, goats, buffalos, and snakes. However, he is still only afraid of spiders and will go out of his way to avoid them. The Adventures of Tintin and Snowy have been printed in 50 different languages all over the world, and there is even a life-sized bronze statue of Tintin and Snowy outside the Comics Café in the Place du Grand Sablon in Brussels, Belgium.
