Introduction
Dog Names Meaning Cold in Pop Culture
Ice is a law enforcement arson dog from California working with the U.S. Forest Service who helped on many police and arson investigations and raids. The seven-year-old Belgian Malinois works with his human partner, LEO Christopher Magallon, who has been with the U.S. Forest Service for nine years and worked with Ice for about six of those years.
In July of 2016, Ice and Christopher were deep in the Shasta-Trinity Forest near Wildwood, California to identify and apprehend the suspects of a large marijuana operation. Upon entering the area, they noticed two men and Ice was sent to take down one of them while the officers went after the other one. Ice got his suspect, but the man pulled out a 5-inch knife and stabbed the hero dog. He had been stabbed twice in the face and twice in the chest, but he held onto the suspect until the officers were able to take him into custody.
Christopher had not even realized that Ice was injured because he did not make a sound and when he got close enough, he noticed that Ice was bleeding badly. Luckily, they carry two trauma kits for both themselves and their canine partner, so Christopher worked on stopping the bleeding while help was called in. Because the area of the arrest was so remote and wooded, they had to get a helicopter search and rescue team to come in and lift Ice out of the area and transport him and Christopher to the closest animal hospital, which was in Redding, 50 miles away. Luckily, they were able to save Ice with surgery to repair the injuries he sustained, and he was back up and ready to go a few days later.
Christopher recalls how scared he was about losing his partner, Ice, and how brave the Belgian Malinois was throughout the whole ordeal. In fact, Christopher said that Ice was much braver than he was. They went right back to work nabbing the bad guys a couple of weeks later, although he was on light duty, and Ice seems like he does not even remember it. These dogs always want to work as it is their main goal in life and they seem to feel sad when they are not able to get back to normal. In 2017, Ice was awarded one of the finalists in the American Humane Hero Dog Awards and got to fly to Hollywood and walk on the red carpet. What a fitting day for a heroic dog like Ice.
Dog Name Meaning Cold Considerations
Was your poochie born during the winter months or did you get your pup on a day that it was snowing? You may be thinking of a name that means cold to commemorate the occasion. Or if your dog is white, you may think of snow every time you look at them. For example, the West Highland White Terrier, Bichon Frise, Bolognese, Havanese, Samoyed, Coton de Tulear, or Maltese may remind you of snow. You may also want to give your cute little furball a name that means cold if they are constantly cold, trying to dig under the blankets or cuddle in your lap.
Your pupster’s breed may also give you the idea of a name that means cold. For example, if you have a Saint Bernard, Spitz, Akita, Siberian Husky, or an Alaskan Malamute, they are all dogs that love the cold weather and snow. Or maybe your dog just loves the cold and the snow no matter what breed they are. Whatever the reason, some of the best names that mean cold are pretty obvious like Blizzard, Chilli, Snowy, and Ice. We have listed the top 60 male and female dog names that mean cold that we could find, right here for you to choose from if you like.
