Introduction
Dog Names That Start With 'Em' In Pop Culture
American Pit Bull Terriers are often seen in a bad light and that is primarily due to the history behind the breed and the lack of education in regards to the breed today. Patience, consistent training, and love are often all that this loyal dog needs.
Emma is a mix between a Pit Bull Terrier and a Basset Hound and was adopted out of the Best Friends rescue network of NYC. Fostered by Don Levanthall and Jeffrey Lewis, she quickly worked her way into their home permanently. Across the city, her pup Slick was on a similar path after being fostered and then adopted by the Jensen family.
The love that this breed can project became evident when the 2 couples connected and decided on a reunion of sorts for the two canine family members. At Riverside Park in New York, the dogs met again in joyous celebration, even though they had not seen each other in over a year. The pair now have the occasional play date and each of them, in their own homes, provide entertainment and companionship for their lucky owners.
Another such American Pit Bull Terrier who has plenty of affection to give and who is a wonderful example of what these courageous canines can be, is Emma. Emma had a tough beginning but has not let the experience change her heart, nor has she given up on humanity. Emma was adopted by a couple who had researched the breed well and understood what they may encounter as owners of this often misunderstood canine.
Her owners describe her as noble and goofy, and definitely sweet, despite the abuse that she had suffered at her previous home. Adopted out at 2 years of age, she had to be rehabilitated after the experiences she saw and felt for the first six months of her life. A purebred puppy, Emma was quite ill and emotionally affected when the rescue took place. However, with love and training, this pup was able to overcome her rough start. She is the life of the home now and resides in the United Kingdom.
Testaments to the courage of canines, our two pop culture Emmas are now living the life that every dog deserves.
