Introduction
Dog Names That Start With Jo in Pop Culture
One of the most popular movies about dogs is Lady and the Tramp. One of the main characters is Jock, a Scottish Terrier who lives in the same neighborhood as a Cocker Spaniel named Lady. Jock and his Bloodhound friend Trusty are friends with Lady. Jock and Trusty attempt to help Lady cope with her owner's changing behavior as they await the arrival of a baby.
Jock is considered the most aggressive dog in Lady's friend group, even though he is the smallest. As the mentor of the group, he takes Lady under his wing. He is often considered the fearless protector of the group. Late in the movie, Jock risks his life to prevent Tramp from being taken to the pound when he tries to stop the dogcatcher's wagon. In this act, he not only shows Tramp that he is sorry for how he treated him earlier in the film but also that he is honorable and trustworthy.
Jock also makes a small cameo in the film One Hundred and One Dalmatians.
Our second "Jo" named dog is Jofi. Sigmund Freud's dog, Jofi, is a Chow Chow that he used to bring with him during therapy sessions. Jofi was the sibling of Freud's first Chow, Lun Yug. Jofi quickly became a cherished pet for Freud. Surprisingly, Freud used to sing for her frequently. In fact, some patients didn't like having Jofi in their sessions, because Freud seemed more interested in the dog than in what they had to say.
Freud often wrote about Jofi in his diaries. He would note her general health and the fates of her litters. He spent a lot of money on Jofi. He paid for a very complicated procedure to remove ovarian cysts in Jofi, however, she died just a few days after the procedure on January 14, 1937, from heart failure. Freud mourned the loss of his beloved dog, saying, " One cannot easily get over seven years of intimacy."
Dog Name that Starts with Jo Considerations
Bringing home a new pet is a very exciting time. You have probably spent a lot of time and money picking out a collar, leash, food, bowls, treats, toys, bedding, and more. However, selecting a name for your precious pooch can be much more challenging and time-consuming. There are so many different variables that come into play when you are trying to find the perfect name.
First, you might want to consider what kind of name you are looking for. Do you want a name that is cute? How about a posh name? Maybe you want a name that is serious or silly? Once you have a tone selected, you can move on to other considerations.
Next, you might want to start thinking about your pet itself. What does your pet look like? How does your pet act? These characteristics may help you select a great name for your pet. Maybe you have a pet that is always really happy (or at least always looks really happy). A great name could be Joy or Jolly. If you have a pet that is really athletic, you might choose a name like Jock.
The most important aspect of a pet's name, however, is whether or not you love it!
