Introduction
Dog Names that Start with 'Me' in Pop Culture
Even though very few of us would know Meatball personally, many fans of Adam Sandler would feel like they did. Meatball was what Adam Sandler referred to as his "first son." He would provide his fans with updates, celebrate his successes, and include him on the global stage in both TV and film.
Meatball was born in 1999, a small, chunky puppy with which Adam Sandler immediately fell in love. He appeared in many feature films, as did his father Mr. Beefy who most people will remember from the movie Little Nicky, voiced by Robert Smigel.
In 2002, Meatball starred in a short film named A Day with Meatball which appeared on Adam Sandler's DVD 'Eight Crazy Nights.' In the short two-minute film, fans were given a glimpse into Meatball's love for food, kittens, basketball, sleeping, film sets and his dad Adam.
In 2003, Meatball also served as Adam's ring bearer and best man at his wedding with Jackie Titone. He appeared in a customized tuxedo with a white yarmulke.
Unfortunately, Meatball's life was drawing to an end, and at just four years old in 2003, he died of a heart attack. Because Adam had such an attachment to Meatball, he took it very hard. During the premiere of the movie 50 First Dates, Adam carried Meatball's collar down the red carpet.
He also held a memorial service at his Malibu home which over 100 people attended. Each guest received a piece of cake with his face on it as well as a t-shirt bearing Meatball's likeness. He was survived by Adam's other English Bulldog, Matzoball.
It seems Meatball was a trendy name in the TV and film scene. A Bull Terrier, also named Meatball, became a TV favorite on a TV series known as Baa Baa Black Sheep, a military series on NBC from 1976-1978. The show followed the daily life of a "misfit squadron" involved in World War II and was a favorite show for the three years that it aired.
Meatball was white with a spot on one eye and was Major Greg Boyington's pet. As dogs were against regulations, Greg smuggled Meatball onto the island and kept him a secret from officials, albeit poorly.
Both Meatballs hit the world stage at different times, but both were much-loved dogs that had names starting with "Me".
Dog Name that Starts with 'Me' Considerations
When it comes to choosing a dog name starting with "Me", you will soon discover that the sky's the limit. There are so many names to choose from that you may struggle to narrow it down to one. However, before you choose what you believe is the best name for your dog, think about what names are going to suit their breed, color, size, and temperament.
Names such as 'Meg' are generally more suitable for small dogs or working dogs. The name rolls off the tongue, so in the realm of farming, it's a short, sharp name that will ultimately prove helpful during training. If you go for a fun and funky name such as Meatball, you will see it's more suitable for chunky dogs or those who are a little bit goofy.
Then, there are more natural names such as Meadow or Mead. If your dog has a graceful elegance about them, then such a name is going to suit them well, too. There are many unique dog names starting with "Me", so don't hurry the process. The right name will appear when you least expect it.
