Dog Names that Start with Wh

There are many canine heroes from army dogs to police dogs to those who save their human family members from fires and other dangers. But this hero, named Wheely Willy, is just a true inspiration to everyone. Wheely Willy was a Chihuahua left on the side of the road. Willy was found in a cardboard box on a busy street with no tags, note, blankets, or collar. He also had a major spinal cord injury, which kept him from being able to use his back legs. And to make things even worse, someone had cut his vocal cords, so he could not bark, whine, or make any kind of noise at all. 

The person who found Wheely Willy took him to the local animal hospital, and he spent the next nine months recovering from his severe injuries and being rehabilitated so he could move around again. For almost a year, nobody showed any interest in adopting him because of his special needs, and he was getting ready to be put to sleep when the owner of a dog grooming business found out about him. Deborah Turner, who owns “Doggy in the Window,” rushed to the hospital and adopted him so he would not be euthanized. 

When Turner brought Wheely Willy home, she noticed how much he wanted to play with the other animals she had at her home such as the other dogs, cats, ducks, and even a turtle. Unfortunately, he had to be carried around wherever he wanted to go, and he liked to go everywhere. Wheely Willy did try to walk on his own too, by dragging his back legs behind him with his front paws but he would wear himself out just trying to play with the other pets. 

One day, Turner’s friend bought some helium balloons and tied them to Wheely Willy’s hips to lighten his load and make walking easier. But he was so tiny, it lifted his front legs too, and he was almost flying. He actually enjoyed hanging around like this, but Turner and her friend could see that he could not get around like that. Soon, they found out about the K-9 Cart and got one for her little bundle of fur, and as soon as she attached the cart to him, he took off running. 

From that day on, Wheely Willy never stopped running around in that cart, and Turner thought it was so inspirational that she started taking him to local hospitals where children were in wheelchairs or injured to help them see how being disabled does not need to hold you back. That’s where he got the nickname, Wheely Willy. The kids loved him, and soon he was on the news and even on a national television show. In fact, he even became the mascot for a group with spinal cord injuries.
