Introduction
Faery Dog Names in Pop Culture
Paris Hilton’s dog, Tinkerbell, was the “OG” of social media doggos. The hashtag “dogs of Instagram” would not even exist without the dainty and luxurious life of this particular pretty-in-pink pooch because who would even care about photos of your pup in outfits, doing human things like sitting in front of a plate of tacos or wearing glasses beside a laptop and cup of coffee? Okay, so you would care, but Paris and Tinky made it possible for you to assume that others would care as well. And we certainly do! Dog pics are the best! The Chihuahua starred alongside Paris and Nicole in The Simple Life, appearing at the end of the season in 2003. She was Paris Hilton’s “handbog,” a handbag and a dog all in one. And yes, in reality, the dog practically lived in a handbag while wearing the latest fashions and plenty of bling, of course.
Tinkerbell was actually born in Greece on Halloween in 2001, and Paris decided to bring adorable Tinkerbell into her life after she saw the movie Legally Blonde. So, thank you Elle Woods and Bruiser for being an inspiration to us all and especially to Paris. Without that film, we’d hate to imagine what social media would look like today. Without the presence of puppy faces, you’re stuck with political rants, engagement sessions, drooling babies, and crappy memes. We love all the s(Wag!) that Tinky inspired. She lived 14 years on earth, and now she’s gone on to that big handbag in the sky. In her long life, she traveled the world with her owner and even had front row seats at Fashion Week. She appeared on The Tonight Show as well as Saturday Night Live.
Little Tinkerbell made headlines when she was apparently kidnapped from the Hilton mansion. We say kidnapped because this dog was like a kid to Paris. After a week into the hunt, Tinky was found, and we could all breathe again. As Tinky grew older, she got a little chubby and even bit a producer. So, her time in the spotlight seemed to be over until an Instagram photo appeared of Paris and Tinkerbell staring lovingly into one another’s eyes. Paris isn’t in pink, and Tinkerbell is sporting her birthday suit. They look completely at home together. Tinkerbell was the first of many mini-dogs to come, and she will always remain supreme. She was, indeed, a little fairy of sorts. May we always remember her tutus and tiaras! Rest in peace, Tinky!
Faery Dog Name Considerations
In the realm of faery, there are, of course, fairies; but you’ll also find mermaids, elves, gnomes, goblins, sprites, trolls, and more! It’s an entire world of mystical creatures that we imagine dwelling in the woods, water, and sky. In those moments when we feel like we’re not alone, we think of the faery figures. And it’s the same way with our dogs. Their presence is magical, and they’re nearly always beside us. We never have to be alone with our fur babies close by. They maybe don’t have wings, but those alert ears count! You know they fly away with your heart almost every minute you’re around them.
Consider a faery dog name for your new buddy! Grab a famous fairy name like “Cosmo,” “Wanda,” “Puck,” “Oberon,” “Titania,” “Tink,” “Flora,” “Fauna,” or “Merryweather.” You might even consider types of fairies, calling your pooch “Selkie,” “Pixie,” “Will,” “Wisp,” “Seelie,” “Tooth,” “Brownie,” or “Deva.” You might even pick a more general faery realm name: “Flight,” “Dusty,” “Wingo,” or “Godmother.” Watch all those beloved faery movies or break out your faery literature. You are sure to discover a magical moniker that speaks to you and your kindred spirit. We hope our name guide below gets you started!
