Introduction
Fishing Inspired Dog Names in Pop Culture
Shane Grumpers Hedger is a Puggle (a Beagle and Pug mix), and he loves fishing with his owner and avid fisherman, Gabe Hedger. The two first made their appearance on the Internet because of Shane’s big, brown, amazed eyes. If you look at their viral photos, you’ll perhaps notice the beautiful green bass first along with a smiling Gabe. However, let your own eyes wander a bit; in the background amid trees and water, you’ll find Shane looking on in complete shock and awe. He seems to be blown away by whatever Gabe reels in! And Gabe has multiple photos to prove the priceless reaction.
The two live in Illinois, but they travel everywhere together. They keep their eyes (Gabe’s normal eyes and Shane’s bulging ones) on the prize: large, beautiful bass. They particularly love floating on the kayak together and trying to locate the fish they know are out there. Shane rides on the back of the kayak, sitting and even standing from time to time. As soon as Gabe pulls the fish from the water, he snaps a picture and Shane’s eyes in the photos steal the show. One minute, you’re taking in nature itself, and then you’re looking at the adorable, expressive Puggle more than the fish or the smiling Gabe for sure.
Shane keeps Gabe company as he fishes, and he always begs for food. He’s entertained by Gabe’s catches, obviously, but Shane also enjoys the fresh air, sprays of water, and adventure itself. You simply must look up the photos! Shane’s face says horror and interest and surprise all at once. You can totally tell he’s into this fishing thing. The repeated image of his rather stunned face is so hilarious. He’s consistent. The miracle of a freshly-caught bass never ceases to amaze him.
Shane reminds us that being outdoors is wild, refreshing, and so much fun. He inspires us to get outside and enjoy the wonders of the world. Who has time for a nap when he or she may hit the water and reel in bright, shiny fish that buck and splash as they come to the boat or creek bank? Shane has a unique personality, and his face says it all. A picture really is worth a thousand words. You can’t help but imagine what the cute Puggle is thinking. Does he want to play with the bass or eat it? Is he confused at how something so alive could live in the depths of the cool water? We may never know for sure, but those funny eyes let us know that Shane is certainly considering possibilities in one way or another.
Fishing Inspired Dog Name Considerations
Just imagine yourself sitting with your black Lab or German Shepherd beside a gorgeous blue lake, fishing for hours, opening a beer or soda, and crunching on some cheese crackers or peanuts. Does it get any better? If you’re an avid angler and can’t imagine the water without your furry fishing pal, you might consider a fishing name for them. So much of the fishermen’s lingo makes for great titles. A fisherwoman may find that a fishing inspired tag is certainly the best fit for her dog.
You could turn to different live and artificial baits: “Minnow,” “Buzz,” “Cricket,” or “Jitterbug” might do the trick. You might even consider specific fish as well: “Perch,” “Trout,” “Guppy,” or “Sally” (short for salmon). Brand names such as “Duckett” and “Ranger” have a nice ring to them, too. There are so many possibilities, so try a name like “Sinker,” “Bobber,” Carolina,” or “Brook.” See which one your pup responds to. If your dog possesses a guard dog or boss dog mentality, you could even name them “Warden.” As you head out to fish this spring, summer, fall, or even winter, keep your eyes and ears alert; there are so many great fishing monikers awaiting your fluffy fur child!
