Ghana is home to some famous football players. Take Elvis Hammond, for example. Born in Accra, Ghana, Hammond played the position of Striker. There are quite a few dogs to be found in social media with the name “Elvis”, a reminder of Ghana. For example, in 2008 musician Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers named his Golden Retriever puppy “Elvis”. The pooch was a birthday present to him from his family. Another pup named “Elvis” belonged to the musician Pink. The Bulldog was a gift to Pink, whose real name is Alecia Moore, from her friend Lisa Marie Presley, the daughter of Elvis Presley. One such pooch met a team of Swedish athletes at the Adventure Racing World Championship as they were about to embark on a 20-mile trek through the Ecuadorian rainforest. A scruffy stray, the pooch caught the eye of team member Mikael Lindnord, who fed the pup a meatball. When the team finished their meal and continued on in the race, the pup followed. Suddenly, the team of four became a team of five and a friendship developed. Named Arthur by the team, the pup would swim alongside the men as they kayaked down rivers, hike up hills and slog through mud up to his knees. At one point in the event, for safety reasons, the team tried to leave Arthur behind. The pooch was not having it and continued to follow along. Ultimately, the team became attached to Arthur and the pooch was adopted by Lindnord and now lives with his family in Sweden.
