Introduction
Officially known as the Republic of Indonesia, the country is located between the Indian and Pacific oceans and is the third largest island country in the world. Indonesia includes over 13,000 islands and is home to more than 261 million people, making it the country with the world’s fourth largest population. More than half of Indonesia’s population lives in Java, which is the world’s most populated island. While the country has a large population, it also has large wilderness areas and abundant natural resources.
A name inspired by Indonesia may be just what you are looking for as you seek a name for your new canine companion. The diversity of the country will offer a myriad of naming opportunities for you to consider.
Indonesian Dog Names In Pop Culture
Pippin is a dog from Indonesia who became known when he became stranded at the bottom of a concrete drain in Jakarta. A West Highland Terrier, the pup had other issues aside from beings stuck; he had a miserable rash, had lost most of his hair and was being hit by stones that children were throwing at him. According to a resident of the area, the pooch did not bark or try to escape. Unfortunately, Jakarta does not have a pound or place where stray dogs can be taken in. Dogs without homes fend for themselves or pass away.
Fortunately, there is a charitable organization in Indonesia called “Let’s Adopt!”. The organization rescues dogs like Pippin and assists them. According to a volunteer for the organization, Carolina Fajar, the organization will get the pup medical help, typically having the pooch stay in a clinic until they are healthy enough that they can be moved to a foster home.
It was Ms. Fajar that saved Pippin from the drain and gave him his name. She found a short-term placement for Pippin in the northern suburbs of Jakarta and coordinated medical treatment for him. She and Let’s Adopt! worked on finding a forever home for the pup, beginning with social media appeals. It is challenging to rehome dogs in Indonesia, and ones with a health condition can be nearly impossible to place. One way the organization has succeeded in finding homes for dogs like Pippin is to look outside of the country. Let’s Adopt! will do the work that is needed for the dog to be accepted in the United States; get vaccinations for the dog, an all-clear from the vet and find a person willing to travel with the dog.
In Pippin’s case, he found a home in Atlanta, Georgia. He has continued receiving treatment and his skin condition has improved. In addition, his hair has grown back. The new arrival has had multiple new experiences; he has enjoyed his first Thanksgiving in the US, experienced snow for the first time and been photographed for Let’s Adopt! Indonesia’s 2017 calendar. Live has improved dramatically for Pippin as it has for other homeless pups in Indonesia, as they are sent to live with their forever families outside of the country.
Indonesian Dog Name Considerations
If you are struggling to decide on a name for your new pup, you can be tempted to throw your hands in the air and give up. It is definitely not easy to choose a name that not only seems like a fit for your pup, but is something that you like and feel you can live with for years to come. If Indonesia is a place that has meaning for you, the country may be a good place to turn to when looking for ideas. With a name inspired by Indonesia, each time you call for your new friend, you will be reminded of a place that has meaning to you.
You may also want to consider a name inspired by Indonesia if your pup reminds you of a dog from the country or if your pooch shows an affinity for an activity that brings Indonesia to mind.
No matter the reason that you are looking to Indonesia for name possibilities, you will find that the country offers numerous possibilities for you to think about. Take a deep breath and explore the available options, choosing the one that feels right for your furry pal.
