Kiev Dog Names

True was a young dog, less than a year old, who was owned by a drug addict. When high, True's owner would become very abusive and cruel. One day, as puppies do, True was in the backyard happily digging a hole in the soil when his drug-addled owner came home. The owner flew into a fit of rage when he saw the dog digging and grabbed the poor pup. He held him down and cut off his front legs.  It is a miracle that True survived. 

The poor dog had no front legs, but he managed to get around. He was eventually taken from his abusive owner when the man overdosed. The dog was placed in an outdoor shelter. The winters in Kiev are extreme, and the puppy would probably not have survived the bitter cold if a lady named Erin Blaak had not seen the canine's photo online. Cause 4 Paws, which is a local Kiev organization that works to rescue dogs, placed the legless canine's picture on their website. Blaak, who lives in Canada, was moved by the dog and immediately applied to adopt True. Her application was approved, and within ten days, True was shipped out of Kiev, Ukraine and to his new home in North America. 

When Blaak was asked by a reporter why she adopted True, she answered, " I saw his photos and his story and it just really broke my heart. "True has endured unimaginable pain and cruelty, but the dog is still a trusting soul who is happy in his new home. Blaak says, "He just loves all animals, loves all people, loves giving kisses, loves cuddles. He loves to play." 

Even though True seems to now have the perfect life in Canada,  Blaak still wants to see her beloved dog genuinely enjoy life. She started a fundraiser to purchase the dog a pair of prosthetic legs. She hoped to bring in $5,000, but the True's story inspired generosity, and she raised $22,000. The extra money will be used to help other dogs like True.
