Life Is Ruff Inspired Dog Names

This canine kid did not look like much at first sight. In fact, when Tony Vandemore let his Labrador Retriever, Ruff, go on a hunt in Northwestern Missouri, his friends thought he was losing it. All they could see was a short and skinny pooch of about 45 pounds who looked like he'd rather take a nap than hunt geese. He proceeded to walk around a bit, do some stretching, sniffing, and leg-lifting before even realizing that all the hunters were staring at him. However, Ruff proved them all wrong, and then some. 

Tony found Ruff at a kennel up in Wisconsin, and that loyal poochie would go everywhere with him. Even to the office. He was attached at the hip, people would say. But this pup had such a natural ability to hunt it was amazing. In fact, he helped Tony get over 25 thousand ducks in the time they were hunting together. Ruff just loved every minute of it. Going out to the blind and sitting in the cold, covered in ice, he would set his head in Tony’s lap and wait for the next bird. 

Tony was not a professional guide like many of the others with dogs, but he did do some guided hunts every season with Ruff. In fact, he and Ruff spent 160 hours every year guiding clients like media members and other important people. Ruff and Tony hunted in all kinds of weather and many different places such as Illinois, Kansas, Mississippi, Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota, and his home state of Missouri. 

In all kinds of situations, Ruff was able to find the prey for Tony and his hunting team. From flooded crops and timber to shallow marshes, small creeks, rough rivers, and peaceful lakes - any environment was fun for that doggo because he just loved being out there. From 2001 to 2014, Ruff and his best friend Tony enjoyed their favorite sport together almost every single day, and pawsitively loved every minute of it. 

For ten years, Tony and Ruff hunted together and even when Ruff was having hip trouble at the very end when they went on their last hunt together, Ruff insisted on going after the duck that Tony’s buddy got. It took him a long time to get out there and back, but his eyes were shining, and he was so excited to be out there one last time. It was his favorite place.
