Luxembourg Dog Names

A dog (specifically a Beagle), foiled a plot by a couple that was trying to bring a large amount of drugs into Luxembourg from Belgium. Skip, a Beagle sniffer dog for Luxembourg customs was sent to check out the couple’s car as it drove up to the Grand Duchy. Luxembourg customs had been alerted that the couple had already been arrested for trafficking drugs the prior weekend. Before long, Skip and his nose found 2,000 ecstasy tablets, 13 grams of cocaine and marijuana hidden inside the car. Both people were arrested and their car was seized.

Beagles tend to have an incredible sense of smell, leading to their being excellent dogs for this kind of work. In fact, Beagles have 45 times more scent receptors than humans do. Not only that, but the olfactory lobe in their brain is 40 times larger than that of a human. A Beagle’s sense of smell is anywhere between 1,000 and 10,000 times greater than that of a human. The Beagle’s sense of smell is impressive when compared to the scent abilities of other breeds; for example, the Dachshund has 125 million scent receptors, while the Beagle has 225 million scent receptors.
