Throughout the movie, Kate develops feelings for an omega wolf named Humphrey. Kate and Humphrey have been friends since childhood, but it is against the rules for an alpha wolf to marry an omega wolf, because alpha and omega wolves are in a war over territory. Much like Romeo and Juliet, the two wolves try to find a way to be together despite all the odds working against them. Kate shares a name with famous model Kate Moss, who was extremely popular in the 1990s.
