Introduction
Located in Eastern Europe, Moldova is a landlocked country officially known as the Republic of Moldova. The country is bordered to the west by Romania and to the north, east and south by Ukraine. The largest part of Moldova is between the Dniester and Pruit Rivers and while most of the country is hilly, the elevation is never more than 1,411 feet. The hills of the country are part of the Moldavian Plateau, which geologically comes from the Carpathian Mountains. While Moldova may not be the most popular tourist destination, it has a lot to offer, including potential name opportunities for your pup.
Moldova Dog Names In Pop Culture
Cleopatra Stratan is a famous singer from Moldova. Holding the record for youngest artist to win an MTV award, Cleopatra was born in 2002 and began singing and recording at the age of 3. Cleopatra is also the name of several dogs that have received media attention. Take the Shar-Pei named Cleopatra in Russia who took on a mother role to two Siberian tiger cubs who were abandoned by their mother. Apparently, Cleopatra took to the cubs right away and began cleaning and feeding them as if they were her own, even sleeping with them. The cubs were named Clyopa and Plyusha and were fed goats milk along with the milk they received from their adoptive mom. Less than 400 Siberian tigers, which are also known as Ussuri, Amur or Manchurian tigers, have survived in the wild, the majority of which in the Far East of Russia.
Another dog named Cleopatra is considered Britain’s most pampered pooch, having had $52,000 spent on her. A Staffordshire Bull Terrier, her full name is Lucky Princess Cleopatra Superchill. The pup has 65 outfits, 175 pairs of sunglasses and a bespoke pram that cost $1,970. Her owner, Anthony Welsh recently showered her with $1,313 in gifts for her on her for her seventh birthday, to include high-quality tennis balls, a posh feeding station and a custom mountain bike. She celebrated her birthday at her very own beach party with a guest list that included her boyfriend, Frank, a Bulldog, and his owner. The dogs feasted on dog birthday cake and steak and Cleopatra even opened her own gifts…with her mouth! Welsh has no children and sees Cleopatra as his daughter. Welsh works as a personal trainer and lives a healthy life, something that he wants for Cleopatra as well. She gets plenty of exercise (on foot and by bike) and eats high-quality dog food. Cleopatra even has three kids’ sports cars to ride in, each of which cost $656. The pup gets regular manicures and is typically dressed in one of her outfits. Welsh considers Cleopatra (who he calls Cleo) his “world” and gives her daily massages and even sings to her at bedtime.
According to Welsh, “she makes me smile every single day”. Welsh rescued Cleo from being locked in a cage when she was a year old. At the time, Cleopatra was quiet and different than the pup she has become. Welsh explained that “she was actually diagnosed with depression and so I was on a mission to make her happy”. Cleopatra now competes in dog shows and has earned 89 ribbons.
Moldova Dog Name Considerations
You’ve been trying to decide on just the right name for your pup; however, you are struggling. It is likely you are looking for a name that fits your pup while also having meaning to you. Understandably, this is not easy. Before your start throwing dog treats in frustration, take yourself on a virtual trip to a place that appeals to you. While on your adventure, you will likely find quite a few possibilities.
Take Moldova for example. While the country is not frequently talked about, it still has plenty to offer, from rivers and hills, to unique food and well-known people. As you take a closer look at the country, take note of any potential names. For each name that you like, try it out on your pup and see how it feels. Next, consider if it is a name that you think you will tire of; after all, you will be calling it many times a day for years to come.
With a name from Moldova, your pup will have a unique moniker and you will receive reminders of the country, each time you call their name.
