Introduction
Simple Dog Names in Pop Culture
We can’t deny it: we look at couples and question whether they “go together” or not. Do they look similar? Are they both tall or short, or are they a stout and lanky twosome where one somehow complements the other nicely? Are they light, dark, redheads, or blondes? Sporty, fancy, or maybe hipsters? We can’t help it. We perceive with our eyes first, our hearts second. The important thing is that we get to that final heart part. We say, “Don’t judge a couple by their snouts!” That’s right. You heard me. Here’s one of the oddest pairs you’ve seen, but they’ll quickly win over your love.
Jack, a Beagle mix, answers to a simple name, but he’s got one bewildering yet strong relationship with another fabulous creature. Jack was adopted from the Humane Society of North Texas back in the summer of 2015, but his owners didn’t stop the adoption there. They learned that Jack and his pal Tuna had been inseparable since arriving at the shelter. The humane society’s Whitney Hanson said that they actually spoke with each other in their kennels. How precious! To have a friend when you feel abandoned and uncertain is such a lovely thing. The organization even reported that Tuna occasionally gave Jack kisses on his face.
They’re an unlikely duo, and that’s what got them their Internet fame. Jack is a dog, and Tuna is no cat, though the name might lead you to believe so. The humane society is used to seeing dogs and cats that are strongly bonded upon arrival, but Tuna is a potbellied pig. When it came time to find the lovebugs a home, Jack and Tuna were advertised as a set. The organization wanted to see if they could place the couple in a home together. And it worked! Jack and Tuna had grown up alongside each other, and when they were dropped off at HSNT, the workers knew that they had to do everything in their power to keep these animals in the same family. A month later, Jack and Tuna found a home; they found the same home.
Best friends come in all shapes and sizes, and this happy Beagle mix and loving potbellied gal indeed show us that very fact. People say love is complicated, but this duo keeps it simple. Though Jack is the more independent of the two, the humane society workers, as well as the new parents, agree that Jack and Tuna are clearly the best of pals. They are home to one another, and we at Wag! are happy to see the odd and wonderful couple together forever. Simple Dog Name Considerations
It’s a quick call, a one-syllable moniker that gets your dog running whether it’s time for their meal, to go outside, or to climb into bed with you. The simple name is easy to remember and say, and it’s certainly easy for your furry friend to answer. They hear you sing that singular note, that basic sound, and they know you’re ready for them. They’re alert and eager to please, even with an unadorned, plain title. So, try on a short but fitting and lovable name. Bonus: They fit perfectly on a cute collar!
If a simple three-letter tag is what you desire, try “Abe,” “Ray,” “Gus,” “Nan,” “Gal,” or “Sky.” If your dog is a serious, regal type, go for something like “Lloyd,” “Lee,” “Ann,” or “Quinn.” Finally, if you have a playful little boy or girl on your hands, you might test out “Pete,” “Daxx,” “Stud,” “Joy,” or “Tess.” They really are all rather simple, short and sweet names, but we think they’ll suit your pup if you’re looking for that kind of thing. Names are certainly important, but just because they’re essential doesn’t mean they have to be ornate or too difficult for your dog to understand. Keeping it simple is not a bad way to go!
