Introduction

You hear that? That is the sound of inevitability. You are here because you want to give your dog a The Matrix name, which is completely understandable given the mind-blowing creativity of the film series. After it’s initial release, the original movie alone went on to win over 40 awards from Oscars and Academy Awards to worldwide acclaim. And best yet, for our purposes, it features a dynamic cast rich with unique names that will undoubtedly suit your equally-unique dog and in the process, tell everyone who hears you call their name that you are a dedicated fan with a penchant for sci-fi brilliance.

The Matrix Dog Name Considerations

We imagine that right now, you’re feeling a bit like Alice. Hmm? Tumbling down the rabbit hole?  Well, we’re here to help. Finding a starting point for your dog-naming process can be a bit of a challenge to say the least, but it’s not as difficult as it seems. Start by taking note of your dog’s appearance, personality and particular quirks, as they are usually strong elements to work off of.

For instance, if your dog tends to bend or break things seemingly with their will alone, maybe Spoon, after Spoon Boy, the spoon bender that studies under the Oracle, would be appropriate. If they seem to be particularly acrobatic or agile, maybe Trinity would be more suitable. If they tend to get down to the business of digging, chasing and other traditional doggy activities with the dedication and precision of a machine, Agent or Smith would be great choices. If they seem to behave in a predictive way, or seem to show that they have a feeling about something before it happens, then Oracle would be perfect.

Of course, you can play on their looks just as easily. If they’re big and muscular, Tank would be a good fit the same way Mouse would work if they’re a bit undersized.

Don’t hesitate to go back and watch the film or the entire trilogy for that matter. Re-familiarize yourself with the characters and their quirks and see if anything sticks out that reminds you of your dog. You never know when you’ll find the Morpheus to lead you to the truth of the right name.
