Introduction
Travel Inspired Dog Names in Pop Culture
Henry’s Instagram started back in August of 2015, and it’s been going strong ever since. Henry is quite the traveler! This gorgeous German Shepherd, Husky, Boxer, Staffordshire Terrier and Aussie mix, along with his feline friend, Baloo, have quite the cult following. Over half a million people track their travels. And we’re going to tell you why.
First of all, it’s hard to resist a dog and cat duo. For generations, cartoons have painted them as the truest of enemies. We’ve all heard the phrase “fighting like cats and dogs.” We can’t help but love these two: Henry and Baloo are living life together and enjoying each other’s company. It reminds us that despite our differences, we can manage healthy relationships and even have a little fun along our journeys.
Second, Henry and Baloo are rescues! Owners Cynthia Bennett and Andre Sibilsky live in Colorado. They met in Boston, but both confess they were ready to escape city life. So, they traded tall buildings and traffic for the Rockies and two wonderful pets. It all started with Henry back in 2015, but they added Baloo, a Siamese mix, to the gang back in late September of 2017. The Instagram introductory photo received around 700 likes, and then when Baloo came along, the duo’s photo had about 25,000 likes. It’s now common to see well over a hundred thousand likes on a single weekday photo.
They furry couple will surely melt your heart. And, of course, the Colorado landscape isn’t bad to look at either. There’s something magical about the wide-open wild west in the background and then these lovable, snuggly, domesticated pets in the foreground. Henry actually chose Cynthia and Andre in a way, they say. As soon as Cynthia saw him, he came to her, a huge puppy at the time, and went belly up in her lap. He was the one, and he started it all. If that’s not enough to make you want to give a puppy a second chance at an amazing life, I don’t know what is.
Henry has become most famous for the way he “wears” Baloo on his head as they travel. Baloo looks like a stylish winter hat atop Henry, in fact. They’re just the odd, unlikely friendship that will brighten your life. Their nomadic lifestyle is untraditional but very wonderful. These two animals are touching the earth their ancestors roamed long before them all the time. Cynthia will not disappoint with her photos of the pair. Do yourself a huge favor, Wag! dog-lovers. Travel Inspired Dog Name Considerations
If you’re an adventurous soul and you’ve found a kindred spirit in your doggo, consider giving them a travel inspired name. More than likely, they “dig” traveling as much as you do. They leap and dance when you pull out the harness and leash. When they hear the word “go,” they’re beyond ready to hit the dusty trail. We hope the guide below will give you some focus as you set out and track down the perfect travel title for your dear companion. If you don’t find what you’re looking for here, be sure to keep searching.
You might name them after a favorite place of yours (or theirs); a city, national park, or state might make the best moniker for them. Try some traditional traveling items like “Compass,” “Mappy,” “Ticket,” or “Trolley.” You might even think of the busy or wide-open street itself: “Highway,” “Tunnel,” “Roady,” or “Miley” could work. And there are so many ways to get around these days, so names such as “Train,” “Wagon,” “Flyer,” “Motor,” “Cruise,” and “Ferry” might suit your beloved pet. Finally, because we perhaps travel by car the most, even if we’re trying to get to a place to hike for the majority of the day, you could love “Wheeler,” “Rig,” “Lane,” “Van,” or “Wagon.”
