Central Darby

If your pooch is itching for a walk, help scratch that itch by taking them for a stroll in River Park. Located just a bone’s throw from the Bitterroot River, this park is a great place for your pal to stretch those four legs. Cruise around the grassy space or head down to the river’s edge so your pooch can splash around the mellow current or just dip their paws in the river. This park even has access to the Darby Trail of Discovery, a 3.5 mile trail that loops around town. Waincrest Park is also nearby. Here you’ll find even more open space for walking, plus a playground, horse shoe pit, and picnic tables. Water is not available, so make sure to pack enough H20 to keep your pup well hydrated.

South Darby

South Darby is home to a couple parks that will make your pooch bark with joy. South Park is set among the cottonwood and pine trees, so you’ll have plenty of shade during your visit. It’s a bit rustic, but your four legged friend will love sniffing around and spotting squirrels. Bring a sandwich and stay for lunch, just don’t forget a couple biscuits for your furry BFF! With several campfire pits and picnic tables, Tin Cup Park is the perfect spot for an evening campfire with the whole pack. Before settling in for marshmallows and ghost stories, stroll around the grounds with your canine companion. Neither park has facilities, so bring plenty of water.

West Darby

This area has more than enough hiking to keep your pooch busy. The Tin Cup Trail is a 14 mile trail that starts in a lovely forested valley. Of course, you don’t have to complete the whole trail. But, if your pooch does want to go the distance, plan on a couple stream crossings. Rock Creek Trail is near Lake Como and is a bit shorter. At only 7 miles, this trail provides furrific views of the surrounding mountains. It also connects with Como Lake North Trail, a beautiful lakeside trail. As you’re trucking along, keep your eyes open for wildlife. Also, you may encounter horseback riders or mountain bikers. As always, bring enough water for your furry hiking buddy.
