The city of Ferndale is as pleasant as its name. A blend of history and modern culture, this small community has something for everyone. Ferndale’s character extends well beyond the early settlers’ cabins dispersed throughout town. Its historic downtown is a vibrant hotspot of hip restaurants, art galleries, fashion and lifestyle retail stores, trendy loft apartments and seasonal festivals.

Ferndale embraces pets and their people, too! You and Fido can experience some of the town’s unique places together, like the Hovander Homestead Park. This 350-acre park showcases the area’s origins with tours of award-winning gardens and a pioneer homestead complete with real-live farm animals and historic buildings. Take a stroll on the 1.4-mile Tennant Lake Marsh Boardwalk and enjoy the views of majestic Mount Baker. Leashed dogs are welcome throughout the park, except in buildings and a few other signed areas. Be sure to clean up after your pet to keep the park clean and open to dogs.

For a special treat you can only find in this part of Northwest Washington, visit the Edaleen Dairy ice cream shop in Ferndale. Your leashed pup can join you in the outdoor seating area as you enjoy a scoop (or two!) of homemade ice cream. From peanut butter to blueberry cheesecake, Edaleen Dairy has a flavor for everyone!

Need a veterinarian? Whether it’s a yearly check-up or something more urgent, one of Ferndale’s four veterinarian clinics is available to care for your furry friend.

No matter how you choose to spend your time with Fido in Ferndale, you’re sure to feel welcome!
