Stevensville lies on the western half of Kent Island, taking up 6 square miles. The town was founded in 1850 as a steamboat terminal and still has over 100 historic buildings today. Although the steamboat industry is dead, a lot of the old piers and beaches are available for public use to humans and their dogs.

One of these beaches is the Terrapin Nature Park, a dog-friendly nature preserve with access to the beach. This 270-acre park is filled with trails through marsh, forests, past ponds and along the beach. Dogs are allowed on the trails, on the beach and even in the water!

If you're looking for a bit less adventure, head over to the Island Dog Park. The dog park provides two fenced-in areas for larger and smaller dogs. Each area has benches, clean-up stations and water fountains for humans and dogs. The park is also relatively shaded and surrounded by trees, so you don't have to worry about your dog or you getting overheated with all the excitement.

From natural to fenced-in, Stevensville is a pawesome place to enjoy time with your dog, whether it's in the dog-friendly Stevensville Crab Shack, the Cross Island Trail or the Kent Island Dog Park.
