The most epic of all barktastic adventures awaits you and your dog merely three miles away. Chain Lakes Trail is a two-day trail that will lead you through the mountains, down into valleys, and across rivers and streams. You can pack a tent and make an entire weekend of it. There is so much beauty to this area that you will wonder what took you so long to come and discover it! If you don’t want to stay for the weekend, you could just walk until you are tired and stretch your legs a little further each and every time you come to walk.

Eighteen miles from you is a cute little beach called Bloedel Donovan Beach. It isn’t fenced in, but dogs are allowed to play off-leash as long as they respond well to voice commands. There are lots of geese in the area which have a habit of chasing smaller dogs, so please always be aware of your surroundings. This beach has limited hours so you’ll need to check the hours before your visit. There are lots of things you could do and see right here in the area, so it is a great way to take a break and get away from the bustling city for a little while. Don’t forget to bring water and waste bags!

Bender Fields is a family, and fur, friendly park that is located just 23 miles from Van Zandt. It has everything a family could need. There are ball fields to play soccer and baseball. Your kids can run and play on the playground. You can explore the trails at the park with your leashed dog, too. The best part is that there is a dog park that is made just for Fido! He can get off his leash and run with the big dogs, or even play in the little dog area if he’s on the shy side.
