Central West Hills
The northern region of Woodland Hills is adjacent to the town of West Hills. Numerous small parks like Lazy J. Ranch, Castle, and Mae Boyer can be found less than 10 miles away in West Hills. These parks provide places for on-leash activities and offer picnic areas and playgrounds. All these parks have designated pathways of varying lengths for on-leash walking. Park rules require waste cleanups. Waste bags may be available in some of the parks, but it is always smart to carry a few when taking that hike with your furry friend. You may also want to bring some water along, too.36

South Central
South Central Woodland Hills is a great place for a dog to lay down its bones, and call it home. This place has a comfortable climate that keeps those old bones free of winter frost. Exercise outdoors is year-round, and makes for good health and a positive mental outlook. Shoup Park, located at 400 University Avenue, is a new 9-acre park with nice trails amidst the redwoods. A small creek gives a dog a chance for some summer splashing. Serrania Park, located at 20865 Wells, is a small park that has scenic walks for dogs on leash. A few picnic tables and a playground make Serrania a pleasant place to spend a couple hours with the dog and kids.24

South Calabasas
This neighborhood suits the needs of dogs and their people. In nearby Calabasas, dogs may go for some off-leash fun at the Bark Park. This fenced-in dog park is located at 4232 Las Virgenes Road, and is just 6 miles southwest of Woodland Hills. The ground of the enclosure is a mix of wood chips and grass, and all dogs visiting the park can play together in one moderately-sized area. If your dog is timid or shy, keep this in mind when visiting the park, which is open from 5 a.m. until 9 p.m.12

Central Thousand Oaks
The city of Thousand Oaks is ruffly 15 miles away, but your Fido will bark his praises if you make the drive! Conejo Dog Park, located at 1350 Avenida de las Flores, is a pawesome 3.5-acre dog park that’s split into two separate areas for dogs based on size. Thousand Oaks is also home to Estella Park. This secluded park is the pawfect place for timid or shy dogs to enjoy a walk on leash, since it’s not usually crowded. However, Estella Park doesn’t have as many amenities as Conejo Park, so you’ll need to bring your own water, waste bags, and toys. Fido is sure to have plenty of fun by your side.
