South Mountain Brook
This Mountain Brook neighborhood is home to Jemison Park, a popular place to take dogs for on-leash strolls. While you’re here, you and your pup can go for walks on the 54-acre park’s three beautiful trails. If you’d like to go on a long trek, try the three-mile Jemison Park Nature Trail. This trail takes you on a loop around the whole park, and it passes by lovely Shades Creek. If you’d rather go on a shorter hike, try the 0.6-mile Nature Trail, which also provides amazing views of Shades Creek. Bring doggy bags and water with you, and have a furrific day out at this park!

Crestline Heights
When you’re in Crestline Heights, you won’t want to miss the Irondale Furnace Trail. This 0.6-mile trail welcomes dogs on-leash, and doggy bags are available throughout the trail. As you go along this trail, you’ll pass the ruins of a historic Irondale blast furnace that dates back to the Civil War. You’ll also go through peaceful wooded areas, and you’ll pass a beautiful creek. If you’re hungry after your walk, head over to Urban Cookhouse. This restaurant welcomes dogs on their patio, and your server will bring your pup water. While your dog enjoys their water, you can dine on hearty pork and chicken sandwiches made with local ingredients.

Wisteria Commons
If you’re searching for a pawesome off-leash area for your dog, check out Loch Haven Dog Park. Located nine miles from Mountain Brook, this 17-acre dog park features separate areas for large dogs and small dogs. The park also has a canine obstacle course, and it has a 0.4-mile walking path where your pup can walk off-leash. If all this excitement makes your dog thirsty, water is available. After the dog park, continue your fun day out with lunch at Fish Market Restaurant. Sit at one of their dog-friendly outdoor tables, and enjoy their delicious, local seafood dishes. Bone Appetit!

Garden Highlands
Garden Highlands is home to the pawsitively amazing Red Mountain Park. This park is nine miles from Mountain Brook, and it has an off-leash dog run with three separate areas: one for large dogs, one for small dogs, and one for special needs dogs. If your dog gets thirsty, water is available in the dog park. After your pup is finished playing, put their leash back on and take them for a stroll on one of Red Mountain Park’s 17 trails. If you’d like to see a historic mine, try the 0.44-mile Eureka Mines Trail. Or, if you’d like to trek through a beautiful wooded area, go on the 1.35-mile Redding Trail. You and your dog will both have a great time in this fun-filled park!

If you’re searching for another woofderful place to take your dog for an on-leash hike, try Moss Brook Preserve. This 250-acre preserve is 14 miles from Mountain Brook, and it has about 12 miles of hiking trails. If you’d like to hike past a series of waterfalls, try the 1.5-mile Waterfall Loop. Or, if you’d rather hike through a beautiful gorge, go for the two-mile Boulder Gorge Loop. No matter which trail you choose, you’re sure to have fun here! If all this hiking makes you hungry, head over to Vecchia Pizzeria. Grab a table on their dog-friendly patio, and enjoy authentic pizzas, pasta dishes, salads, and paninis.
