As a smaller city in the counties of Maricopa and Pinal, Apache Junction is a beautiful and friendly place to take your four-legged best friend. Apache Junction gets its name from the Apache trail and Superstition Mountain junction, and can be found in the upper Phoenix metropolitan area. There are several historical structures still standing in Apache Junction for you to explore. At the base of Superstition Mountain, studio sets and other interesting finds are preserved from the Apache fire in the mid-20th century. The ghost town of Goldfield is also in Apache Junction.
There are four dog-friendly restaurants in Apache Junction. The Handlebar Pub and Grill is one of the four restaurants, and is rated five stars from locals. This pub and grill has 28 rotating taps and over 100 different bottled beers to serve you as you relax with Fido. The large variety of foods are based off a wood-fire menu, and your pal is welcome to beg for a bite of your food at the outdoor seating area.
There is a hiking trail in Apache Junction that you can explore with Fido. Although Apache Junction has plenty of activities and natural beauty for you and your pal to explore, you’ll find more dog-friendly things to do in nearby cities.
Lost Dutchman State Park is a highly-rated hiking park in the state of Arizona. This beautiful park is dog-friendly and is home to plenty of space for Fido to romp in. Although your dog must be leashed on the trails, multiple hiking trails are available for your next adventure with your pup. Some of the trails lead to the Superstition Wilderness, which is perfect for bird watchers and nature lovers. The trails average around 2 miles, and are user-friendly for all experienced hikers and beginner hikers and all pups. The beautiful trails of Apache will be a tail-wagging experience for the four-legged love of your life, and a much-needed escape for you. Just don't forget to bring some water!
Less than 30 minutes from Apache Junction, Mesa has several unique dog-friendly activities to enjoy with Fido. With 2 dog parks and several Bookman stores, Mesa has something for all dogs and their owners. The Bookman stores buy, sell, and trade multiple kinds of merchandise in Arizona. If you are interested in looking around these interesting stores, the owners only ask that your pup remains leashed and well-behaved. After a long day of shopping, feel free to let Fido off-leash to enjoy either of the local parks in Mesa. Countryside Park offers separate areas for timid dogs to enjoy romping in the grassy fields, too.
Gilbert is a 25-minute drive from Apache Junction. With 2 dog parks and an intriguing comic book and pop culture store, Gilbert is proud to have dog-friendly activities for all pet-lovers. If you love dogs and comic books, then look no further than True Believer Comics. With their own dog “mascot” present in the lounge area, your dog will feel right at home in this interesting shop. After walking around the shop, you and your dog can decide between either of the two parks in Gilbert. One of the parks, Cosmo Dog Park, offers three areas: one for small and timid pups, one for agility training, and one for a pond. Whether you are interested in working on obedience training with your pooch or looking for a safe place for your pooch to play, Cosmo Park has it all.
Queen Creek is a little over 20 minutes from Apache Junction, and is home to a unique dog agility gym. If you are looking for access to agility equipment in order to teach your dog the sport of agility, then Queen Creek has you covered. As a new facility, this new gym offers a variety of equipment for you to use to train your Fido for a small fee. Local classes are also taught here, giving you advice on the most effective ways to teach your beloved four-legged friend some new tricks! If you’re interested in finding a new activity to do with your pooch, agility might be a pawtastic sport to learn here in Queen Creek.
