Apache Junction is located just 8 miles northwest of Gold Canyon, and it's home to the Lost Dutchman State Park, which allows dogs to visit as long as they stay on their leash. There are a variety of trails that you can explore here. The park even has guided tours for you and your pooch if you don’t want to go it alone. The trails are mainly gravel, and something to keep in mind is that there is little to no shade. Bring some water and doggie waste bags with you. Feel free to bring the whole pack to enjoy all the park's activities, including wildlife watching and camping!

Citrus HOA
Approximately 25 miles away from Gold Canyon, you'll find the Citrus HOA neighborhood of Mesa, AZ. This is an affluent part of Mesa, complete with quaint cul-de-sacs and gorgeous single-family homes. The real gem of this neighborhood, though, is Quail Run Park, a furrific family-friendly park with its own off-leash area for dogs! Please note that the off-leash area is closed every Thursday for maintenance, so schedule your visit accordingly. Water fountains are provided here, but you'll need to supply your own waste bags. Why not bring the whole family to enjoy this park? Human amenities include a playground, sports fields, and picnic areas.

Woodside
Just across the way from the Mesa's Woodside neighborhood, you'll find another pawesome place for Fido to play! Countryside Park has its own off-leash area with two separate sections for active and timid dogs. Note that these areas do not separate dogs by size, but by temperament. You may find a large dog in the timid dog area, and a small dog in the active mutt area. Some locals note that waste baggies are supplied, but aren't always restocked regularly, so be sure to bring your own just in case. Water is provided. Please note the off-leash area is closed on Tuesdays for maintenance.
