Foothills Paseo

The very southeastern tip of Phoenix, Arizona is less than a 20-minute drive from Sun Lakes. Right across the freeway from the Foothills Paseo neighborhood is where you'll find the RJ Dog Park at Pecos Park. RJ was a local police dog who died in the line of duty, and this two-acre dog park was named in his honor. The RJ Dog Park is fully fenced, and it includes a double-gated entry system. Park hours are every day from 6 AM to 11 PM, and there are separate areas for big and small dogs. Throughout the dog park, you'll find water stations and waste disposal supplies, and there is seating available as well.

Midtown

About 25 miles north of Sun Lakes, in the Midtown neighborhood of Phoenix, Arizona, is the Steele Indian School Dog Park. This dog park features a one-acre fenced space for large dogs and a 0.63-acre space for small dogs. Both sections are double-gated and include chilled drinking water for thirsty pups. The park is open every day from 6 AM to 10 PM, and it includes solar-powered lights for your convenience. Steele Indian School Dog Park is ADA compliant, and it includes paw-shaped pathways throughout the park. After heavy rainfall, this park often has to close temporarily, so be sure to call and find out if it's open before you visit.

Woodside

Another wonderful dog park that's less than 30 miles from Sun Lakes is the Countryside Park Dog Park in Mesa, Arizona. The Countryside Dog Park has big and small/timid dog sections, and both areas are lighted. Throughout the dog park, there are water stations and waste disposal items, and if your dog loves to chase a ball, you'll both be happy to know there are paw-lenty of them here! Be advised that the dog park is closed every Tuesday for maintenance to ensure the park remains an enjoyable place for all. The rest of Countryside Park has sports fields, barbecue pits, picnic tables, and walking paths where your dog can join you on a leash.

Balboa Way

The Snedigar Sportsplex Dog Park is only a five-minute drive from Sun Lakes, near the Balboa Way neighborhood of Chandler, Arizona. The Snedigar Sportsplex is a 90-acre recreation facility that includes several sports fields, a skate park, a large recreational complex, and of course, the dog park! The Snedigar Sportsplex Dog Park includes water fountains for humans and dogs, fire hydrants, waste disposal stations, and agility equipment. The dog park is also surrounded by a six-foot fence to keep any high-jumping dogs in! Children under the age of 12 are not permitted in the dog park, and it's closed every Tuesday from 6 AM to 2:30 PM for maintenance.

Agritopia

Gilbert is a city in Arizona with a population of more than 237,000 people. In the central community of Agritopia, you'll find the Cosmo Dog Park, which is just over a 20-minute drive from Sun Lakes. Cosmo Dog Park is a seven-acre park with all the fun amenities you could dream of for an off-leash space! It includes four separate areas for small/timid dogs, dogs, an agility area, a beach area, and a general play area. This special dog park has all of its visitors in mind, and it includes ramadas you can rent for community activities, as well as walking trails, a playground, and sports fields.
