Four miles out of Tolleson on the outskirts of Phoenix is the Tres Rios Wetlands. This 480-acre wetlands is a habitat for wildlife and an area for purifying water. While visiting, your dog needs to stay leashed, but he will love all the trails that he can explore with you while visiting. The trails are a dirt and pebble surface trail which makes it perfect for any hiker to walk along. The wetlands does not provide shade or water, so make sure to take frequent breaks while hiking and bring plenty of water. You also need a permit before you visit.

Head out to the Avondale Friendship Dog Park in Avondale with Fido by your side. This pawsome dog park is only six miles out of Tolleson and a great spot to let your pup run around leash free. The park offers a big and little dog park so your pup can play with pups his own size. There is tons of space for your dog to run around, and plenty of shade to keep the both of you cool. If your dog isn't a fan of the park, then just hang around the surrounding Avondale Friendship Park which offers sports fields, a Japanese garden, and a nice walking trail.

The Estrella Mountain Regional Park is located in Goodyear, which is only seven miles out of Tolleson. This pawesome park offers both a normal park and a dog park for you and your pup to explore. The dog park is fenced in and offers grass for your pup to run around on, plus benches and shade for the owners to relax under. If you and your dog would rather get some exercise in, then attach Fido to his leash and explore the hiking trails that run throughout the park. Your pup will love sniffing around the mountains and hiking the trails. Make sure to bring water for your pup if you decide to hike since there isn't any shade and it can get hot.

Twelve miles out of Tolleson in Phoenix is the South Mountain Park and Preserve. This dogtastic park offers over 51-miles of trails that you and your pup can hike together. While hiking, your dog needs to stay on leash, but he will love the beautiful views he gets while hiking. The cool thing about this park is once a month they observe a silent Sunday and close the parks main access to motorized vehicles, making your outdoor adventure even better. If Fido would rather relax and enjoy a beautful view, then head to the Dobbins Lookout. With an elevation of 2,330-feet you and your pup will get a great view of the Phoenix Valley. If you are too pooped to make the climb, you can drive.
